World Space: In the United States of America, a catastrophic terrorist attack inspired the nation to elect a strict conservative government into power. Since then, the U.S. has enjoyed peace and prosperity. Indeed, the country recovered beautifully from its suffering and has grown into a shining utopia straight out of a 1950s television set… At least at first glance. Anthros exist in this world and have largely taken the place of mistreated/abused minorities throughout the world’s history. Present day in the U.S. they are free citizens, but it would be a stretch to call them equals to their human counterparts. They are still treated badly by the humans with segregation and such, but it is a new era of change and new ideas. Species at this time are closer than they ever were in the past, but of course there are still bad species crimes going on.
To ensure lasting peace, the military is constantly developing new weapons to fight the threats from overseas. A New Jersey pharmaceutical company, Acacia Technologies, was contracted several years ago to assist in the development of genetically-engineered weapons, super-soldiers raised from childhood who would be capable of entering enemy territory with maximum stealth to execute attacks of unbelievable proportion. Over the course of their trials, both humans and anthros were used with the latter yielding vastly superior results. So much so that anthros are almost exclusively used as Subjects for the genetic modification and analysis.
This project is called the Machine Fur Project.
Story: Life is business as usual within the secret government facility as the various Subjects undergo daily testing and treatments. Subjects are ‘enrolled’ at such a young age that they have no memories of life outside of the facility and what they do know of the outside world is heavily censored by those in charge. The opinions among the Subjects regarding their life under a microscope vary and tensions between the Failures and Successes are only a hint towards the thoughts of the scientists that run their lives. It isn't until a reoccurring vision from the unit's Athenian sparks an unease that only grows as the facility personnel brushes off the concern with uncharacteristic apathy. There is a lot the researchers keep hidden from their test subjects, but some secrets are far more menacing that either realize.
We will all be playing as Subjects who have various abilities (a list of which I have made) with both pros and cons. I see the story ultimately leading to our characters breaking out of the government facility and attempting to hide among society to escape the fate that the group's precog has seen. From there it is a matter of keeping their unique abilities hidden despite the discrimination and tensions of a building anthro civil movement that is causing friction around every turn.

Subject Types: Spoiler for Hidden :
Athenian – A type of Subject who possesses elevated tactical and logical intelligence along with precognitive visions. Spontaneous headaches are common among this class and their visions are not always reliable; they are based upon the most likely of outcomes, but even the smallest of changes in events could throw off the validity of the vision. These Subjects often experience migraines as well as have difficulty differentiating reality from visions.Aphroditian – Extensive testing on this subject has granted them the ability to compel others to their will. The ability puts a strain on the Subject, especially if the target becomes aware that they are being compelled and begin resisting. If pressed to their ability’s limit, the Subject’s mind can break causing their mental state resemble that of a burnt-out drug addict.Apollonian – Abilities include rapid regeneration from injuries and ability to absorb injuries of another into their own bodies. All injuries can be regenerated as long as the heart and brain are still intact. Additionally, they can take the wounds and afflictions from others and transfer them to themselves, but doing so is a considerable strain to the Subject. There has been evidence of excessive use of the regenerative ability can lead to a gradual degeneration of the ability itself.Arenian – A type of Subject whose abilities include bursts of speed and power combined with a reaction time that borders on precognition, making them especially effective in combat. One of the more unstable types, prone to bloodlust rages in times if extreme stress, making them a threat to allies and foes alike.Artemisian – A Subject who has enhanced perception and agility making them exceptional trackers and assassins. Another effect of the procedures grants the subject with the ability to sense the true emotions and motives of both human and animal alike. Overstimulation proves to be problematic for this Subject, especially among crowds where the torrent of emotions and movement can overwhelm the Subject’s ability to concentrate or even think clearly.Demetian – Similar process to the Heranian procedure, this subject is able to alter the coloration and pattern of their skin, hair, eyes, etc. to better blend in with their surroundings. The direct effect of which allows them to blend almost seamlessly into their environment, especially when remaining motionless. This modification to their skin pigment makes them particularly vulnerable to prolonged direct sunlight, which makes them especially susceptible to sun poisoning and can temporarily hinder their ability to blend into their surroundings. Furthermore, attempting to blend into highly complex or rapidly shifting surroundings causes the Subject to experience pain ranging from mild sunburn to a third-degree burn depending on severity and duration.Dionysian – A subject who is able to psionically alter the emotions and desires of those around them. It isn’t as focused as the Aphroditian ability and they are not able to directly control actions of another; rather they can instill fear, love, empathy, etc. into others, causing them to act upon these emotions under their own free will. This ability is a lot more subtle than all of the others and only puts strain on the subject’s mental state whenever they use it forcefully rather than gradually elevating the output over time. A direct effect of pressing the limits of their ability makes them prone to blacking out and narcolepsy.Hadesian – The opposite of the Apollonian; these subjects are able to transmit their injuries to others while instantaneously healing themselves. Prolonged use of their ability on a target will cause them to rapidly age until they expire or contact is broken. If contact is broken before the target dies, the individual will gradually revert to their original age within a week or so. The side-effect with this process is that the Subject’s body is less capable of sustaining itself. If the Subject does not use their ability for more than a week or so will begin to suffer from necrosis of vital organs and degeneration of the body.Hectatian – A Subject who develops psychic abilities that allow them to read minds of everybody who is nearby. This ability is always active and it is only through periodic narcotic injections that the ability can be reduced enough for the Subject to isolate individual minds or simply not use it. Without the narcotics, the constant surge of thoughts and visions from those around them is overwhelming and has the potential to drive the Subject mad.Hephaestian – These Subjects undergo extensive physical modification and are commonly more machine than anthro. The result of which gives them the ability to communicate with and control any technology that sends or receives data. To prevent interfering with Acacia Technologies computers, a firewall was specially designed to keep these subjects out of restricted portions of the network. These Subjects are especially vulnerable to electricity, EMP, and Acacia Technologies weaponry.Heranian – Through the grafting of nanites into the skin, hair/fur, and eyes, the subject is able to alter their physical appearance. They are able to assume the appearance of any human or anthro despite age, gender, race, or, to a certain extent, height. Heranian’s are also able to modify their vocal cords to mimic one’s vocal patterns. Radical changes in appearance can cause damage to the skin or underlying muscle tissue if maintained for significant periods of time.Herculean - Abilities include super strength and near invulnerability to physical trauma. It is the rarest of abilities due to the procedure’s exceptionally high mortality rate. The major drawback with this Subject type lies in their ability to control their strength, particularly when they are distracted or not focusing on the amount of effort they are utilizing.Hermian – A subject who underwent physical treatment to increase the body’s speed and endurance. In bursts, the subject is able to outsprint most sports cars. One of the side-effects to the experimental muscle injections affected the brain in the form of granting short-range telepathic communication. One of the more common flaws with this subject is the tendency for muscles to tear and bruise with excessive use or running over difficult terrain.Poseidonian – Extensive genetic modifications allows this subject to modify the water content of their body. The direct effect of which allows the subject to alter the rigidity of their body at will; whether they make their bones as flexible as a rubber hose or their muscles as unyielding as stone. Poseidonians must be cautions with prolonged use of their ability; flexibility makes one's vitals prone to injury while rigidity slowly breaks down the tissue affected.Zeusian – A type of subject that is able to generate currents of electricity that can extend a limited range outside of the body through the use of neural implants combined with the body’s natural electrical impulses. Extensive use of their ability increases the likelihood that they will suffer from intense seizures.
Terms: Failure - A Subject who has failed to successfully complete at least 50% of their experimental objectives or otherwise lost the favor of the administration.
Success - A Subject who has successfully completed 50% or more of their experimental objectives or otherwise earned the favor of the administration.
Toxic - A Subject with whom physical contact may be poisonous or otherwise hazardous to one’s health. (Example: Due to the acidic nature of her blood (and, to some extent, other bodily fluids) 9-01 is classified as a Toxic.)
