So, the center of this worldlette is actually a small yellow dwarf. The pieces of this world are separate; chunks of different sizes orbit this sun at close range, although this isn't such a bad thing as the sun is so small. A large breathable gas cloud is also encircling the worldlette. The landscape chunks all rotate at different rates and some not at all. Some are a lot easier to live on than others. Consequently communities have been set up on the ones that are most comfortable. The life forms on this worldlette are all anthropomorphic, and their species appearance is dictated by their inner personality, along with their gender. They travel between the landscape pieces via magic, and with bridges between the more stable ones. Gravity is always local to each landscape piece, as in despite their size they still pull things towards themselves. This also keeps the water down. Water clouds pass through the gas cloud around the sun, closer to the worldlette than the sun though, so it rains on occasion, usually the places that rotate more get more rain and are surrounded by more clouds than the still landscape chunks. The legends of this worldlette tell of a time when the sun was huge, and the worldlette was as one, with many others of different kinds circling the sun at different distances. Although despite these documented legends, there is still a religion based around similar ideas.
The air god broke apart his body so that the inhabitants of the worldlette might breath. The sun god shed his skin so that the inhabitants might come closer and stay warm from the eternal night of the sky outside. The god of water sacrificed itself onto the goddess of earth, so that plants might grow and the inhabitants might drink and eat. The goddess of earth rendered herself apart at the sight of the sacrifice of the others, and so the lands were divided and created. Schooling on the larger and easier to live on land masses teaches a bunch of rudimentary magic abilities to aid in every day life, such as the ability to cross between land masses, how to shield yourself in an emergency, and of course there are a number of little tricks that are passed down during lunch time between students that aren't taught in class, such as how to craft a magic sword, how to push or pull objects, and the best way to wedgies other classmates when their magic shields are down. How to create a light source, and how to enhance your body to shift larger objects are just some of the more common ones that everyone gets taught by their parents.
The political system is largely based in a city-state style of way. Usually there isn't enough land for more than one large city per land mass. The mayor or king is either successive to the previous one, inherits the responsibility of the city from their predecessor, or is elected by a majority vote. Language and arithmetic are all core schooling subjects. Money is universal across the worldlette, although trading of goods and magic knowledge are also means to gain things you want. Depending on how religious someone is, or how culturally sensitive they are, they may call the worldlette the Earth Goddess, Isya (the legendary name of the worldlette), or just The World.
Miayuki had just arrived in this city, and was staying at one of the slightly cheaper inns near the outer part of the city. It's a dis interesting wooden building, log cabin-style construction as it's so close to the cities surrounding forest. The inn keeper is an old bear, who tends the place by himself. There are three bedrooms, although one of the other occupants left yesterday shortly after she had arrived, so she was the only one there. The room she was in is rather generously large, although sparsely furnished with just a chest of draws and 2 single beds, along with 2 bedside tables. The windows of the room look out down the hills, with few houses along the street the inn is on, and the forest down the hill growing thicker.

"come on people! gather round! gather round!"
A crowd of furs where gathering at the city square, several stall owner too had ambled over... much more interested in what was going on here than on the slow business that morning...
"Okay.. how many of you guys have seen magic?"
Several cries of "me" and "yes" arose from the crowd, all watching the young feline who stood beside his dark tan horse.... more furs gathered round, the mysteriuos figure aquiring quite an audience...
"fine... so, it seems you know of magic... but... what if i said i can do magic, of a different kind.... without.... any use of of magical power whatsoever?"
Several boos and cries of liar sprung up, mostly from the youngest onlookers... the feline smirked, enjoying the feeling of control over the audience...
"okay... lets see... you sir! step up could you please?"
The accused baker stepped out from the crowd, walking up to the feline....
"right... i split this deck of cards... now pick one... any one.... good... put it back in the pack... right.... is this your card?"
the baker shook his head....
"oh... a tricky customer? well... i suppose i will just have to bribe you not to tell anyone about this...."
and at that coins fell like water, clinking across the pavement from the felines paw, seemingly from nowhere the youngest onlookers scrambled for them...
"and... it seems this would be your card..."
with a gesture of his paw the feline produced a seven of spades, to general appluase from the crowd....

Mahi was sweeping up her workshop. She liked to keep her work space tidy. Everything had a place and all were kept in their places, though she could still find what she needed if it was all a mess, she liked it to look professional.
She was the only female blacksmith in the surrounding area and the only blacksmith in her village. The people there knew she was very talented at what she did; her blindness not hindering her work in any way, ever. Most thought that her being blind was what made her so great at what she did and why her weapons were so excellent. No one angered her or challenged her to a fight or questioned her workmanship or the fact that she was a female blacksmith. Outsiders, however, were not that smart.
She had finished sweeping and moved on to working on a broadsword. Hammering away, she heard someone approach and saw through the vibrations of their footsteps that it was a big male bear. "Can I help you?" She asked him, smirking to herself as she saw the puzzled look move across his face as she continued to hammer the sword, taking a second to reheat it. "I wouldn't believe you could, but I'm looking for a broadsword." He said smugly, his eyes scanning her figure. She ignored his attitude and what he was insinuating. "That's what I'm working on. There are others on the table to your left as well. One of which might suit someone of your stature." She responded, still hammering away. She heard and saw him move to the table, picking up the exact sword she was thinking of and examining it. "It's alright...for a woman's work. It won't do though." He said, setting it back on the table as roughly as he could with a grin on his face, showing no respect for her work. A male wolf passed by and shook his head at the bear's words and actions. "You don't know who you're dealing with, fellow." He warned as he walked onward. "She's just a woman..." He scoffed.
At that point, she turned and moved towards him quickly, picking up the large sword with one hand easily and pointing it at him. "This is one of the best swords you will ever see. I could cut you in half with it." Her expression was mainly serious with just a pinch of frustration. "Go on to the next village and find a man to make your sword, like I know you're going to, but you will never have a sword that is good enough or better than what I've made, not around here. I'm great at what I do. Being a woman just makes me work even harder at it than the men ever do." She swiftly put the sword back down in its place and before he could speak (being stunned that she was blind along with being a female blacksmith), she pointed out of her shop. "Get out of here and don't come back." She demanded. He left very quickly. It seemed like he was scared; she didn't smirk though.
She walked back over to the sword she was working on before, heating it up again, and started hammering away at it. Determination was written all over her face.

Shiro sat on a cold corner, ragged cloths wrapped around him. He was watching this magician intently. Being one of the few Fox Trickery magic users left, he decided to give the magician a little spark. Something to give the crowd something to awe at.
Or he could stop him in his tracks.
His choice.
He considered...
More fun to be mean, have him not know it was you, and then console him.
Yes, definitely more fun. He moved his paw around inside of his rags, a slight jesture. The cards in the feline's hand was suddenly all seven of spades. Except one, the one he showed the onlooker first.
A fox joker...
-
"but... thats not my card..."
Kitt looked from the baker, to the cards..... a comical "o" on his face.....
the youngest onlookers shouted and laughed, running off.... while the rest of the onlookers walked off, several mumbles of "fraud" as they walked away....
Kitt turned over the cards, before throwing them down onto the pavement, and leading his horse away down the road, horsehoes clattering over the cobbles. He passed a young fox on the street corner, and stopping, leaned in to him... pulling out a large silver coin from mid-air and handing it to him...
"here.... go buy yerself some clothes or bread...."
straightening up he sighed, turning the lead the horse further down the road...
-
"Heh, i don't need it, you do more."
*Flips the coin back into Kitt's hand, now gold.*
"That was pretty good for a neutral. But its no good when you are dealing with a Trickster Fox..."
Shiro walked behind Kitt, some of his rags coming off to reveal a pair of knifes, and rouge clothes.
"I have to hide myself to protect myself, but it looks like you might need to learn a few tricks. Not all Trickster magic is magic."
-
Kitt caught the coin, turning it over, giving an impressed whistle...
"trickster... i thought most you guys where.. uhmmm *ahem* well.... not all magic is magic? it seems you speak in tongues friend..."
Pulling the horse to a stop the young feline watched the Fox, watching in the pair of knives, calculating...

Miayuki stirred from her bed pulling out a long drawn out stretch before finally flipping to her feet. Zooming in and out of the shower she dried herself off by a slight strain of fire that heated her fur enough to dry it. She laced up her corset and pulled on her pants and followed with her long sleeved baggy shirt kinda commoner/middle class look. Once dressed she picked up a piece of bread from the counter of the tavern and ran out into town. In other parts of this world she was known as one of the greatest spell casters of all time but here she didn't want anyone to know due to the death sentence for magic.
Once in town she began her quest for a job odd jobs or simple guild quests anything to put money in her pocket. The black and red fox wandered the street bare feet which would suggest she was homeless or just poor but she preferred the natural feel of cold cobble on ones feet. Making it to the blacksmith's (Mahi) she paused and looked at the weapons in awe "Now... I may not use weapons... But amazing job! I can see where the heat touched every part of the blade and the fine edge's could cut a rock" she smiled and clapped "Well done my dear! I am impressed with your work" she said placing a hand on the monkey's back.
-
"Keep your eyes off of my daggers, they have a mind of their own. Not all magic is magical, some is chemical. I am talking about Alchemy. Not that gold coin, that was magic, but theatrical dusts, distrackting potions etc. are where its at."
"I shall give you an example."
He paused...
"Oh, and by the way, my name is Shiro, guardion of Coins, Cards, and Knives, and master trickster."
A potion fell out of his rags, hit the floor, and suddenly Kitt couldn't see anything except a grey twinkle. When the dust cleared, the fox had left no trace except a knife stuck in a deck of cards surrounded by fake gold coins.

Philly stared down at the ground below him. He was crouching in a tree waiting for someone to come along so he could rob them, but unfortunately for him nobody was coming. Nobody had come around any of the roads he usually hits for about a month now. Everybody had moved into the more urban areas. As much as he hated the thought, he was afraid he would have to travel back to his home town. So after much consideration he had decided to stop the next traveler in their tracks and take their horse or carriage. It didn't look like anybody was ever gonna come around though, since he had been in the same tree all morning now.
After about another hour or so he finally got his chance to make a move. A wandering traveler was coming down his road on a horse. He couldn't see the person's face since it was covered by a hood. The raccoon suddenly droped down grabbing the branch he was crouching on and swung his feet upwards, bringing them directly into the chest of the traveler, knocking him off the horse. He planted one foot on the man's chest and drew his bow staff from his back.
"You will give me your cloak and your horse, as well as all the gold you have on you. If you deny me these things I will take them from you with force. I am exceptionally well with air magic and am not afraid to use it against you."
Though the first part was true, the raccoon would not dare use his magic on this person, nor any person for that matter. In fact the only way he would ever use his magic again was if his life was in danger. And he didn't see anytime in the future that that might happen.
After the traveler was stripped of his cloak and his gold, he ran off in the direction he had come from. Philly put the cloak around him and hopped onto the horse. "Now then, it's time I make my appearance in the town again..." he said as he trotted off down the road towards the nearest town. However, he would not reach his true destination for quite some time.
-
Kitt leant forward, pulling the dagger from where it sat lodged in the deck of cards.... after giving one of the coins a testing bite he threw it away, fake... sliding the dagger into his jacket sleeve he pulled himself up into the the stirrups of the horse.... he needed to get some food, breakfast was out of the question but he was hungry... and after that he needed a blacksmith, the fake opal in his rapier had come dislodged after the last stunt..... ah well...
Geeing the dark tan horse into a light trot the young feline made his way towards the centre of the town... stopping at a bakers for a freshly baked roll he finally came upon a blacksmith, one with a large number of swords on display... well crafted swords.. .this looked like the place.... stopping the horse Kitt dismounted and walked over to the swords on display, sidestepping a fox in front of him to get a better look.... no rapiers but the design of the sword didnt matter, it would be a simple enough job he hoped...

Mahi had finished with the broadsword she had been working with and put it with the others. She was stoking the fire when the fox had approached, admiring her work. She smiled to herself while listening to the compliments and the fox clapping. When Mahi felt the hand on her back, she turned. "Thank you. It's nice to know that someone appreciates good craftsmanship." She had a small pleased smile.
She looked over to the feline who looked as though he was looking for something in a certain style, from what she could "see". "Let me know if you need help with anything..." She said kindly.
-
Huzzah! thought Shiro, the feline doesn't recognize me. Lets see if the dagger i gave him does what it's supposed to do...
With all of the subtleness of fox magic, his knife cut the purse from the feline's belt, both turned invisible, and it flew into his pack...
Heh, only another magic user could detect that, and that smith is obviously no mag...
-
Kitt turned to the Smith, surprise at her being female swiftly pushed away as he pulled out the rapier and the loose gem... "yes actually, i was wondering if you could take a look at my sword.... the gem in the hilt has come loose.... i should have the money too..." he stopped sudenly as he reached for his purse... "ah, it seems some wiley pick-pocket has had his share today... no matter.." the feline reached for thin air, producing a silver piece with a flourish... "i hope this covers the cost for your work, never keep all your money in one purse"
-
Mahi smirked. "I can do that and that will be enough." She looked over beside the feline a little ways, looking at nothing but not wanting to be looking at the feline when she spoke again. "Give them money back to him..." She said to no one in view, authority in her voice. It irritated her when people used magic to rip people off. She could have used her magic to move the money back to the feline since she could "see" it even though it was invisible to everyone else, but she knew the price she'd pay if anyone ratted her out.
She took the rapier and the loose gem, letting them shift on her palms so she could "see" them again. "You do know this is fake, right?" She asked him about the gem. While she waited for his answer she continued to look over the rapier, mainly at where the gem had been in it. "So all you need me to do is put the gem back in place, correct? Or is there something more you need done?" She asked after he answered her first question about the gem being fake. Her blank eyes directed at his face, although all she saw was a rough outline of him and no special features through shifting her foot slightly to "see" him through the vibrations the movement sent, causing her to "re-see" the female fox as well.
-
...ic user...
darn...
"Hehe, only a special type of person could see that, eh?"
Shiro hands back a pouch of coins a little heavier than it was originally.
"Only a special type of person, am i right?"
-
Kitt hefted the purse, opening it up and pulling out two gold pieces... "you do know that purse only had my coppers in?....
"yes i did know... a good fake, but fake nonetheless... you have a good eye for your work, i have known only one other recognise that gem as fake" he smiled, watching her carefully "well, if you could maybe give it a sharpening as well, but yes i think that is all thats needed thank you..."
-
The woman smiled softly and looked to Mahi "I am not a weapons user but none the less I love to support a cause such as a great Female Blacksmith" she said leaving a few gold coins "However, I am looking for a job if you can help me there" she said simply" Anything will help me, even grunt work if you offer it" she said with a faint smile. She turned to the cat sniffing the air and then looked down to the other fur "Stealing isn't nice... And using magic here is strictly forbidden" she shook her head turning her attention back to Mahi "So... is there anything I can do?"
-
Mahi gave Shiro a quick glare before looking to Kitt again. "Okay, I'll get right on that then." She nodded. She turned her head towards Miayuki as she took the gold coins. "Well thank you. Sure, you could work for me if you'd like. I'm not really busy now, but I wouldn't mind having someone else around to help out." She responded with a smile.
Turning around, she walked back to her heating fire with the sword and gem in hand. She worked swiftly, heating only the area where the gem needed to be and being sure not to accidentally change anything about the sword while she heated it. She put a glove on and picked up the gem, gently putting it in place and holding it there for a few seconds. She let go and took off the glove, the sword looking just like it had before and like nothing had been wrong with it. She went over to her sharpening wheel and peddled it to get it spinning, holding the edge of the sword to it and switching to the other edge when she finished that one. When she finished, she moved away from the wheel and sliced the air a few times with the sword.
Smiling, she walked back over to Kitt, flipping the sword over and handing it to him hilt first with her other hand on the underside of the sword near the tip. "Hopefully this will be to your liking." She said as she handed the sword to him, looking him in the face again. It was easy to look someone in the face or eyes when you didn't exactly see them looking back at you.
-
Miayuki could sense the distortion in Mahi's body "Now then may I ask one more question Mahi?" she asked simply and looked around to see the cat and smiled "She did a great job eh?" she blushed and looked at Mahi "Why hide your blind eyes?" she whispered going around back to begin straightening up around her workshop humming softly. She looked at all her work and designs and simply couldn't believe her skill "She must have dedicated her life to all this" she said simply "Well... I guess when you have no sight you might as well dedicate your life to your dream no matter how much work it takes" she said with a smile "I mean if you are missing something in your life you should fill it with something that can fill that void" she said muttering on and continued to clean.
-
"No, there is no ban on magic users. They are not widely accepted, but it seems that i am among those like me. And, by the way, i am a master at Trickery magic, and i am a fox. The two go hand in hand. However, i never take without giving."
Shiro did a little bow
"Shiro Chan, master of mischief, and the king of the Knife, Card, and Coin, at your service, fellow magical users, and not abusers"
-
"a very fine job... rest assured i will come to this blacksmiths again.... no other i have seen equals your skill.... well, i suppose i will be on my way..."
Kitt slid the rapier back into its leather cover, strapping it back to his belt, he turned when the fox spoke to him..
"yes... she did a fine job, you shouls be proud of the work you do miss..." the last part was directed to the blacksmith herself.... Kitt watched the fox as she blushed, he too couldnt help but blush and turned back to the blacksmith, extending a paw to shake hers...
"names Kitt Szarda... im an entertainer of sorts... and i will be sure to call again if ever i need your skilled work..."
-
Mahi didn't like that Shiro was mentioning that she was a magic user. It could get her in a lot of trouble and she didn't want that. Her only acknowledgment to his introduction was a nod in his direction. She would not confirm what he was saying.
"I'm glad it's to your liking." Mahi smiled at Kitt, before glancing back towards Miayuki. "I don't hide my blind eyes. I direct my attention to people's faces when I speak to them, unless I don't need to. I don't need to be facing someone to 'see' them actually." She responded to the question, emphasizing the word 'see'. She turned her attention back to Kitt to see his outstretched hand and hear his introduction. "Mahi Smythe. Blacksmith, of course. And I would be happy to help you again should you return." She said, shaking his hand.
-
Kitt shook the blacksmiths hand, "well Miss Smythe... very pleased to meet your aquaintance.... well, i must be off... may our paths cross again" walking back to his dark tan horse, the young feline jumped into the saddle, chivying his horse into a trot he set off down the cobbled street...
-
The woman walked past Mahi "Your backshop is cleaned, I will be back in about an hour i need to find a home nearby so I can get to work easier" she smiled brightly "I like your outlook on life" the woman headed onto the streets looking to the fur who was bent over coughing patting his back "Are you ok?" she asked simply "You seem sick... " she looked him in the eyes and waited for a response thoroughly concerned.
-
She blinked and rushed forwards picking the fur up and draping his arm over her shoulder heading back towards the woods where the current inn she was staying at resided. Checking back in she headed back up to her room and layed him down on the bed. She layed a wet cloth over his head and began to think. She could heal him with herbs which would take a while and he could get worse or... With magic but that ran an even higher risk. "What to do what to do..." she could hear the inn keeper leave with the ring of a bell "Curses! I have no choice" she said closing her eyes and searched for the lay lines attached to his body and his wounds. Wrapping them around her fingers she slowly began to weave and twist them back into place slowly closing the wounds. Of course to anyone else this would just look like an odd dance. She could slowly feel her energy draining but kept it up until his wounds were closed. Exhausted she leaned back on a chair and let her eyes flutter shut.
((Lay lines are a mythical method that spell casters used, they are natural magic found within ones body and the earth))
-
Mahi nodded to them both as they left. After they were gone, she sighed. Having no more work to do at the moment, she sat down in a chair. She watched others as they passed by, one-third of them not daring to look in her direction. She listened to all the sounds of the village as she sat there. She took in everything, just like she always did, getting a full 'view' of the world she was living in.
-
Shiro had not moved out of the shop. Obviously he had found someone superior to him, and it was his creed to follow those in defence of magic, to aid them in any struggle. Plus, he liked her. Not in that way, but in a way a friendly way. Fox lore dictated that if a magician saw a fox trick, the trickster would be in debt to the person for 4 years. Not as a slave, for that would violate the code and therefore be against magic, but as a servitor and guidance person. He stood next to her looking out on the world, seeing a view he knew she would not share, but she herself had a better "view" of everything.
-
"Is there something I can do for you?" Mahi questioned Shiro as she kept her focus on what was out in front of her and around her. She didn't understand why he was still hanging around. Having never witnessed a fox trick before, she knew nothing about the trickster being indebted to whomever saw their trick. She could 'see' him standing beside her, looking out at the same view that she was, but missing out on portions of it just like she was missing out on other portions of it.
-
"I am in your debt. The Trickster code states that if one is to witness a trick, the trickster must do the bidding and be companion to the 'see'er of the trick for four years. As i said before, my lady, i am in your Debt."
-
"Well, it's nice that you're following a code..." Mahi said. "But it's not necessary. Nobody need be indebted to me for any reason." She continued to watch the road and those who passed by. She didn't like the idea of someone following her around and doing things for her, especially not for four years. She sighed and just sat there. Sometimes the job got really boring, but she would never trade it for anything.
-
"Doesn't matter, I need to fulfill it or it's death. Very painful, scary death. Almost happened to me once when a drunk noticed his coins were coming out of his pockets into my hand by hapenstance. "
*Shiro shuddered*
"Scary 4 years, that was"
-
"heyup Kitt... passing through again? you know we dont ask for no money off you... but.."
Kitt jumped down from his dark tan horse, beside the large built canine before him...
"well for that i do thank you constable... and.... youre free show as well.."
at that Kitt flourished his paw, a white dove appearing and fluttering twice around the guard tower before landing back onto the felines arm...
"very good Kitt... but... i have seen the dove trick before.."
Kitt raised an eyebrow sceptically, closing both paws around the dove with a crushing movement, the constable flinched, before beaming when Kitt opend his paws again to show a rose....
"oh, very good.... that one i had not seen before... but the dove?"
a small white birds head appeared from the horses saddle bag, letting out a shrill coo...
"oh... honey... you shouldnt re-appear... it spoils the trick.."
the constable laughed, watching the small dove land on the felines paw...
"do not worry Kitt, you and honey should be getting on your way... be back earlier today, gates closing before dark.." Kitt jumped into the saddle of his horse, setting off again, the white dove perched on his shoulder, head turning this way and that...
-
"Do as you wish, but it will be a very boring four years for you." Mahi responded, shrugging slightly. She reached over and grabbed the stoker, turning some and stoking the fire then putting the stoker back. "I spend most of my time here in the shop and some time at home." She turned her head to the left, her home being to the left of the workshop. "I don't really go anywhere else unless I need to get more food." This definitely would be a boring four years for him because she was indeed telling the truth.
-
Philly stopped and hopped off his horse by a river. He decided this would be a good time to rest. He sat down beside the river and pulled some bread out of his bag. Snapping it in half, he started eating the loaf, taking a break between bites every now and then to take a sip of water from the river. After he finished eating he stood up brushing the crumbs off himself and looked up into the sky. He figured at his current rate of travel he would get to town sometime after nightfall. That would mean the gates would be closed and there would be guards walking the streets of the town. He didn't want to get caught after curfew, especially since he would be an intruder. Even though he used to live there, he wouldn't be considered a citizen. Hopping back on his horse, he rode off down the road, in the direction of his destination.
-
"Well after 300 years on this earth, and another 10000 to go, i think i can spare a few years of boredom. Come to think of it, all these years of evading death, a four year respite would come nicely. Who knows? With all of the anti you know what going around, we may see action yet."
-
Mahi just sat there. There was no getting him to leave her alone, apparently. She was going to have to just learn to deal with him being around, even though she didn't need him there. She listened to the sound of birds chirping in the distance and horses hooves on the cobblestone road. The sound was comforting.
-
the birdsong was coming from 'honey' the white dove that Kitt had trained to take part in several of his conjuring acts.... the feline was riding his dark tan horse back through the town, having just gotten back from the nearby village before they closed the gates... darkness was starting to fall and he had been lucky not to get locked out... riding wearily through the street, he rubbed his paws together... it was gonna be a cold night... passing the blacksmiths he dismounted and, tying his horse up beside a water trough, walked into the warm interior.... 'honey' the white dove perched on his shoulder, bright beady eye watching...
"good evenin' miss Smythe... Shiro.." he nodded first to the blacksmith, then to the fox...
-
Miayuki finally stirred from her sleep and noted the fur standing in front of the window staring outwards "If your wondering you passed out... You were quite hurt... I fixed it" she said stumbling as she stood "Stupid backlash" she muttered looking him over "Well feel free to leave whenever you feel fit to do so I have to get to work" she said heading out the door and back onto the trail heading into town noticing the man from earlier and trickster as well "Same old company eh Mahi?" she asked with a soft smile her color was a little lighter than earlier due to the lack of energy. She stripped and caught herself "Man... really drained myself"
