Title: Art programs
Post by: Self-sain on July 16, 2010, 03:42:50 AM
Ok so I use paint.net for most of my art work editing (and it works great for me for all you haters D: )

some work just to show
http://fav.me/d2dyfx5
http://fav.me/d2tbnm4
http://fav.me/d294wu7

and for the most part I'm fine using it so no real complaint there >>

but anyways I'm at a friends house and I was going to edit a picture for them... but they have photo shop.... I was all like ok >> I'll give it a try. First of all why is it so complicated D: I can't seem to figure out how to find the history. Then i finally find it and I'm all like  0:) thank you... but then i accidentally close it and I'm all D:<<< nooooooo. I tried to put it back on but for some reason i couldn't figure out how to find the tool list to put it back on. Ok so to get to the root of the problem HOW DO YOU WORK THIS. I know a lot of the artest on here use it so i was hoping for some tips on how to use, and I was wandering what was the big deal about it compared to some free bie such as paint.net? Thanks, and sorry if i put it in the wrong thread  ^_^

To get the History list to show up in Photoshop you just have to go to Window>History.

I haven't used paint.net, so I can't give you any specific comparisons.

It's okay.

Photoshop is a very powerful program, but it takes a long time to learn. I've been using it for probably... 7-8 years now, and I still only know a small fraction of the stuff it can do.

First off what version were you using? I use 7.0, and I find it fairly simple once you get things down. But it's getting used to it that takes time. I still don't know of all the things it does.

For drawing, I would say use open canvas.  Not american so clicking random buttons may be inclined. Paint.net is pretty awesome! Just lags.  I wish I had photoshop.  I loved using tht in my digi art class thang.    But yea, There's this awesome art thing called open canvas. Not good for editing photos...unless you get the newer versions that do pretty much every thing photoshop does.

I actually took an art course that was entirely shaped around using Photoshop CS2, so I know plenty about most of the individual features, now if it's 3D related though from more recent releases like CS4 and CS5 I have no information on that D:

I use Photoshop CS5 hehe, as zeph mentioned, it's very advanced and not the easiest to use, but i guess i know it enough to do thet stuff i want to :3
If not i open up vegas pro, video editing software XD
