I had an idea today... A murder mystery RP. Only I don't know if this is a good idea to only me, or actually a good idea. The way I figured it, I would be the one murdered, and would narrate the story. I would be in with somebody to be the murderer, and the rest of the RPers have to try to figure out who killed me. So, is this a good idea, or not?

sounds like a good idea. but the details of how itd work are a little shaky and should be thought out a lil more before trying it.
but id gladly be a part of it if you can figure out a way to make it work well.
-
It's just an Idea, really, but I think it has potential...
-
it does. but how would people partake in adding to the story? because the clues would have to be from the narrator and the people who are just part of the story and not the murderer wouldnt be able to do much towards the main story.
but idk maybe im just being a little too critical

That's why I posted here, first... People would be able to find clues I left in the text, and the story would be trying to deduce the murderer...

It can work like most murder mysteries do.
You start the RP, with you being the murder victim. Assemble a number of people to join, and then pick a murderer from among the group. The murderer should act as they normally would, to not give it away. A few clues can be given to start, and everyone knows that one person among them is the murderer, though they don't know who, obviously. They can socialize amongst themselves, asking questions to each other, to try to figure out alibis and whatnot. People could even conspire to lie for each other if they wanted to. If they get to a point where a clue needs to be revealed, you can tell them what they find, or you can just plant suddenly clue discoveries throughout the story. There could even be additional murders, if you so choose. Can kinda add to the story if a highly suspected person suddenly gets murdered.
Once the majority of people are in agreement of who the murderer is, something can happen to reveal the answer, or you can just tell them outright.
I don't participate in RPs, so I probably won't join, but I still think the idea is interesting. :P
(Also, each person in the RP would need a "role" to play, such as being the murder victim's family member, friend, spouse, etc.)

yeah, pretty much what zephyr said. >.>
-
Well, that settles it... Anyone who wants to be the murderer, PM me...
-
i think you should pick the murderer rather than have people ask to be.
cause your the narrator :P
-
I wanted the murderer to know he was the murderer, so it's not a surprise to him at the end...
-
well you could tell the person they are the murderer in a PM
-
No, I mean that I want them to know all along, like a real murderer...
-
i meant like telling them before the rp starts.
-
I know what you're saying, but I don't want to get somebody who doesn't want the role...
-
well they can always refuse it and you pick someone else.
-
Why not gather people for the RP first, to make sure you have enough people joining? Set up a thread in the Serious RP Companion Board for signing up, and when people sign up, ask them to PM you if they're interested in being the murderer.

Good Idea... Got to think of a name...
