Title: Quirks

Do you have any kind of quirk, or odd thing that you do? If so Share it with us!


After watching Homestar runner for so long, now everytime I say to myself, "I think I'll get a mountain dew," or the like, I now say, "A tall glass of mountain dwa. Dont mind if I dwa."

o.o never heard of that.

One of my real life quirks is that I generally do not have "still" hands, they are always moving or fidgeting even in conversation.

Another oddity that most if not all have probably also noticed by now is that many of my sentences usually contain "rawr".

It was mostly an inspired trait from playing the game "Disgaea 2" where a certain character would say "Zam" in intervals of every sentence said, I found it interesting and decided to make a "furry" version of it with rawr which I found both addicting to use and just suiting for situations where nothing specific could be really said so I decided to go with it! ~The more you know~ *Star*

~ Peel the skin off the tips of my fingers or bite the skin off my lips if they're dry. I sometimes bleed from either one.
~ If I'm not thirsty and want a can of Moutnain Dew, I make myself thirsty on purpose just so I can enjoy one.
~ Make various random / weird noises in real life, clap loud and fast sometimes, say random phrases quietly to myself that make absolutely no sense. No I do not have Tourette's.

I can't think of anymore. But I shall edit this post if I do.

Also, those are just my weird quirks. I have tons and tons more, but they are more OCD-esque.

I don't know if it's really a quirk, habit, or just something with like nerves or anxiety but I get like.. random hiccups. They'll usually just happen once or twice at a time and just stop. Then some minutes later, I'll hiccup a couple times again.
They seem to come around when I am nervous or anxious so I'm pretty sure it's just a reflex to those. :/

I don't know if this is counts but... Sunflower seeds! My biggest addiction! If I buy a bag I spend the next day or two with a cheek full of sunflower seeds every waking moment.

-I always rub the back of my neck when I'm nervous or embarrassed
-I tend to say sorry a lot, even when it doesn't make any sense to do so
-If there's ice in a puddle then I have to jump on it till it cracks
-When no one else is home I'll sing songs about what I'm doing

I do this... Weird little thing with my right hand while I draw (with the left :P).

-I constantly find myself copying the mannerisms of my favorite characters from TV shows, examples being the way the tenth doctor says 'well', pretty much anything that Shawn Spencer does etc etc.
-I'm very restless, so if I'm not occupied with something, I can't stop moving.

I was once told (okay, more than once, by many people) that I was the quirkiest person (another person) has ever met.

A lot of the things sound OCD, but they're not OCD, just quirks.
Like the habit I have of locking my car 3 times before I'm satisfied that it's locked.
I like odd numbers better than even numbers.
I sing about what I'm doing all the time.
I kiss my fists and punch the roof of my car if I'm going through a yellow light.
I pick up my feet over all rail way tracks.
I have a thing about walking with the flow of traffic at the mall.
I'm terrified of the dark, not the things in the dark, but the actual dark.

There's more but it's almost 2:30am and I feel like I'm 100 degrees. So my brain isn't working properly.

First bold: At work during break time, I always listen to my iPod and wander around aimlessly out in the workshop area.

Second bold: I do that as well, mainly at work and because my ex-mate likes to text me a lot, and I have my phone on max vibrate-only in my pocket, but if I'm moving around I can't feel it vibrate to know whenever he texts me.

i cant stand still for long, if im talking to someone on the phone or even playing vidio games i sometimes pace or i move postions if im laying down i usually position my body away from the tv but look at it in an acward position, and idk if it is all that unsual or is considered a 'quirk' but ima crossdresser

If it's even slightly chilly, I'm frequently rubbing and stretching the fingers of my right hand. Gashed it open a couple years ago but tended it at home, so now I've lost some feeling in it and it turns ice-cold sometimes.

I constantly talk to myself, and do it unconsciously. I have been scolded by my teachers many times for this.

I also have a tendency to shake my leg whilst sitting down. I don't even realise I do it until it's pointed out to me.

Same here. It sometimes irritates other people, but you really don't realize what you're doing  XD


Also, in my kitchen, I have a tile floor. It's mindlessly fun to walk in certain patterns on the tiles.  ^_^

These (what I bolded). Albeit they might not be as prominent with me. And I only do that tile thing in the cafeteria at my work.

Heh I just remember one that might top you all:

When I drink or eat something, if I imagine it comes from some foreign place like Italy or whatever, it helps me enjoy it better.

I like to drink something good while thirsty and read about complicated things or things I don't care about or understand, it helps me enjoy it better.

Don't know if the first one is a quirk but here ish my list :D

- Will punch people for touching my neck without even thinking about it, in order to prove I'm not just using natural reflex as an excuse to punch people, I punched the guy who at the time I had a huge crush on because he poked me in the neck >.> I felt so bad afterward because I punched him TwT

- If I'm in a room the door must always be closed or it will bug me, especially my bedroom door >.> but that for other reasons (My computer heats up my room in the winter so I don't like all my hot air going out the door XDDD)

- I am super OCD about my books and will make people buy me a new copy if they so much as crease the spine of the book >.> (Even my books that are 5 years old look bran new because I take such good care of them)

- I only walk on certain colored tiles in stores if they have two or more colored tiles.

- I sleep curled up in a ball

- If I'm sharing a bed with someone I'll snuggle up next to them in my sleep. (Good thing all my friends don't care about stuff like that)

- I have a fear of deep water and heights. (Deep water being more then 5 feet deep and thus I can't swim)

I have a tendency to rock back and forth when nervous or stressed out.


I have a fear of heights. Also, somewhat relating to that, I feel an strong urge to jump when I'm on top of tall buildings.


I eat inedible stuff such as plastic and erasers sometimes.


I eat a snack when I'm thirsty. o.O


I'm always rubbing my hands together or flapping my hands. Especially when I'm nervous or excited.


I like to chew on random stuff.


I don't like sitting down. I have to get up and walk or lay down on the floor from time to time. It really bugs the teachers at school sometimes XD

Well, i am always talking to myself when im working, even with other people around.And what i say doesn't allways make complete sense (People often look at me like im crazy).

Tend to bite my lips when their dry.

I often find myself fiddling with the tag on my collar when i am thinking.

-I'm ambidextrous. Not sure how rare that is here. My hands have preferences, though. Left hand to brush teeth, eat, drink, open doors. Right hand to draw, write, and sharpen pencils. I guess my right is my art hand. :)

- I am mildly
dyslexic so when I read a long number I read and remember it in a random order but then I can recite it back in the correct way

- I shake / stamp my foot when i'm sitting down

- I focus better when my mouth is occupied, I chew on my thing that can fit in my mouth (I have broken a lot of headphones from chewing on the cords

- I rub my hands together when i'm
nervous

- My socks MUST match or else I feel stupid

- I talk to myself when i'm bored (Comes from being a loner at school)

- When I sent a text message (sms) it must be in full with proper grammar and punctuation. I hate text language.

Don't know if anyone's had an experience like this but...


For me, when my emotions progress outside of a normal range and move towards an extreme like happy, sad, angry, etc, my mind begins to dissociate. The logical / notetaking part of my mind becomes separate from the emotion and the two vie for reactionary dominance.


This means that when I begin to become angry, I reach a point where I express no emotion because my logical side has gained control. Common signs of this are monosyllabic answers and tearing apart everything that is said to me through a logical progression. Or the opposite is true and something like I will be extremely emotional but will be able to tell you the licence plates of every car I saw in the parking lot.

If I have my laptop out whenever I'm talking to someone, I tend to bring up Microsoft Word, type up some of the conversation, then take it off on random tangents. Even if the conversation ends well, I bring it to really random subjects, all the while typing for the other person what I think they would say.

-I use smileys a lot when typing.
-I can't seem to form a proper sentence when talking to girls. I will say simple, unleading things. "Hi, hello, I'm fine, okay, sure"
-I'm uncomfortably quiet around new people. And most people in general.
-Too nice. Haha.

Can't think of many more, but I'm sure there are some.

It would make me want to beat them up more.


You're using a weapon that takes too long to draw, set up, stabilize, and prepare for use than it does for me to use any weapon that I'm proficient with. And even when you use it, it's shaky and unwieldly.


If you want to use a knife, use a knife. Don't use a Balaclava...

A guy I used to work with would sing. He was a big lad with quite a few tattoos but he would sing songs by boy bands. :D He definatly made the day pass quicker.

when ever im nervous or antsy to do sometihng, i start cracking my knuckles and wringing my hands. iv found about....3 ways to crack about all my finger joints. just a nervous habbit i guess. as a kid(and even sometimes to this day) i just randomly talk to myself as if someone else is there. i have to explain my actions to myself, as if i didnt understand them(while doing them) its probably induced from my childhood, where i never had any close friends(let alone any REAL friends)until id say....4th-6th grade.

*When I'm on the couch, and I (try) to go to sleep, I curl up

*Whenever I'm listening to anime or video game music, the personal projects I'm working on pop into my head and I start thinking of how that song could fit in, usually with a scene or scenario playing in my head along with the song
*I tend to avoid eye contact, either by slightly looking away from the person's face or by covering my eyes with my bangs. There's actually several reasons for this
*I think I've gotten a little more flamboyant and snarky, and even though most of the time I'm quiet, stoic and formal, these tendencies tend to creep in from time to time. I'd say it's because Ash Crimson's rubbed off on me, but still  X3

whenever i sit i always have to either put 1 foot on the chair so i can rest my head on my knee or sit on the other, also i cant stand sleeping on beds so i have slept on the floor for about a year now, when im home alone i usually scream for no reason but i feel alot better after i do and sometimes at night i walk around my house while everyone is sleeping

i'll list a few:

-:- I Always have to wear a necklace, ALWAYS. If I dont I panic since I have ADHD I cant sit still for long periods of times so I fiddle with my necklace for something to do.

-:- I constently have mint flavoured things on me (How I got Minty as a nickname) whether its tic tacs, Chewing gum, Humbugs or softmints

-:- I always have to chew things (inside of my cheek, Lip, sides of my fingers, plastic rings from bottles etc)

-:- When I get confused I tilt my head and ''Nyu?'', When Im happy I ''Nya~''

-:- Since I have laminate wood flooring it is a nessesisty for me to slide across it to get anywhere in my room

-:- When I sleep I have to first lay on my right, then my left, then right, then on my back and the again on my right before I can fall asleep

-:- I make weird and random noise when I feel like its to quiet (I hate silence)

-:- When I'm nervous/scared I will start talking about random crap that is completely off topic

-:- I zone out into my own little world way to much and people say it looks like im depressed and close to tears when I day dream

-:- I always have to twiddle my hair at some point in the day

I am a firearms and military expert, but oddly I have never fired a gun. I get uncomfortable around kids because I can't relate to their level, same goes  with mentally retarded and stupid people. I either have to surround myself with intelliigent and compassionate people *coughcoughmostfurriescough* excuse me, or people who can at least hold an intelligent conversation. I often talk to my dead girlfriend (who I believe to be my guardian angel now) and my OCs sometimes takeover my body, but that's a given since some of them were past fursona's. I can also twist my left arm 360 degrees and bend it without breaking it. I make otter/ferret/weasel noises when nobody is looking and I LOVE to squirm under warm laundry and tight spaces. People find me very charismatic and I tend to make acquintences  with anyone who crosses me, but socially I only mingle with the weird people at my school and those who actually care about me. I am also a troll magnet and know of at least three who I see everyday. My high metabolism can burn 1 calorie per minute even if I am not active. And I like to type long and lengthy descriptions because I am a writer. PHEW!

I tend to follow people. Not in a creepy way as a lot do, but more in a loyal way. I tend to get socially cold if I stray from the person I'm with. If you hung out with me for a day you'd notice I'd not want to part with you.
I also tend to stare and observe and think about what I'm observing and staring at. That also creeps people out. xP almost got me run over one time too by accidentally staring into someone's car.
Aaaand I randomly stutter.
And uhm.. hmm... I also zone out far too often. I'm generally clumsy and dorky.

Whenever I'm going to meet  with someone or talk to them, I have this tendancy to stalk them. If they're walking down the hall I tend to quietly follow them quietly staying out of their line of sight. Then I quietly get walking next to them when they're not looking, or if they're busy/sitting/talking with someone else I just quietly stand behind them and patiently wait for them to finish. Did I mention I do this quietly? So then they eventually turn around and see me. Cue freak out. Honestly, I've scared a few old friends this way to the point where they expect it, and my mom's always yelling at me for doing this to her, even when I do it unintentionally  X3  So I guess.....I iz teh Wolf Ninja?  XP

I have many quirks. Here's a list:

1-I like to sit with my legs crossed no matter where I sit. In a chair, on the floor, on a bus, I just like sitting cross-legged for some reason and I don't know why  XD .

2-I ALWAYS put my left shoe on first. I don't know why, just how it's been for a while. After a while it just feels right to me for some reason.

3-When getting on a bike, I always get onto it from the right side. Again, same as the last one, I've always done so basically because it feels right more than anything.

4-I like to crack my knuckles. But, when I do so, I always do them individually starting with the index finger and ending with the thumbs. I do it almost ritually around 3-5 times a day, sometimes more especially if the day is going especially stressful or I'm feeling especially anxious for some reason.

5-I sometimes talk so low that no one hears me. When I talk I think I'll be talking too loud and annoying people, so I guess it's some sort of reflex where I talk low so people won't find my voice annoying.

Those are the only ones I can think of at the moment, I'll add more later on  ^_^ .

IMO, reading multiple books is not a quirk, it's a talent, skill, and/or virtue.

Multitasking? Bears INVENTED multitasking. Have you ever seen us catching salmon in rivers? Who else do you know eats AND bathes simultaneously?  :D

My quirks are two: 1. I eat each food item on my plate completely before starting on the next one. Probably due to my habit of multiple take out meals each week.  2. I can't seem to leave my "den" or go to sleep without cleaning the dishes, first. If I leave dirty dishes in the sink, it bothers me until I clean them.

If only my mate would be more wolfish and lick them clean for me after meals... Wolves. Sheesh!

I have a tendency to meow when I stretch, I absolutely love the taste of blood, I constantly twitch my right leg, I pop my joints very frequently over the course of the day, I will force friends to watch terrible movies with me while knowing full well how painful it is going to be, I often get fixated on something extremely strongly... for the span of a couple of days (watching the entirety of Kitchen Nightmares in four days, then almost forgetting it ever existed the week after), I constantly chew on anything made of metal, I wear my collar out in public... the list could go on and on.

6.When in an unfamiliar place I act like i'm getting chased and try to flee it for fun.
7. Walk barefoot everywhere or else I don't feel like walking anywhere.
8. Ride bike on icy roads in the winter.

I do a lot of the things posted but let's see if I have anything new...
I like to blast music about road rage/running people down and rev my engine when people cross in front of me on the crosswalk xD
When I see someone in a hurry I contemplate where they're going and why.
I listen to music and write stories that tie into it somehow xD
When I enter a room I ask myself "If I needed to, what would be the best way to kill everyone/everything in here?" And then debate the possibilities with myself. This is mostly because I design weapons in my spare tme and I need inspiration but I kinda enjoy it :D

I blow on  drinking straws before I use them. Once when I was little, I used a straw and it  had a piece of something stuck in it and it went in my mouth. It really freaked me out, so now I always want to make sure there's nothing in them. I do it out of habit now.

I did the same with a snack cake at my cousins house one time. Apparently, they didn't like them, but never threw them away and no one bothered to inform me of this when I grabbed one. I took a bite, it tasted awful,  I looked at it, and it was mostly green.

Whenever I've got something in my mouth, I just have to bite down at least once, and I tend to chew up blowpop/popsicle sticks.  Getting shredded wood out of your mouth: not fun  T_T

That's the same for me! When my parents announced they were getting a divorce I couldn't stop smiling... it was weird

I tend to speak in Olde English interspersed with Russian quite a lot.
Examples being, without any intent saying, "Пойдем compatriots" when leaving class one day, got quite a few stares from that one.

I also chew on cables if they come within biting range of my mouth, ruined a lot of headphones that way :/

I say the word "Indeed" too much.

I am totally pacifistic however when a debate begins i can hold my own so well i'm actually asked to let the other people have get a word in...

I refuse to cut my hair, and wear it in a ponytail on occassion.

Lastly, I tend to alternate between English, and the minimal Swedish i know (Especially when talking to my friend who is training to be a linguist, we can stealthily make jokes about teachers  XD )

I get freaked out when anyone touches me for any reason. The amount of times I have caught myself with a fist or slap an inch away is horrific. Luckily I haven't failed to catch myself yet.
I tend to carry two large cases, one strapped to each arm to carry stuff in; easy weights and decent shields should I get into a fight. -surprisingly common where I am.-
I listen in to a lot of conversations; generally people freak out because I know stuff they think NOONE ELSE knows about, as I heard it as they spoke under their breath, or they whispered it to a very close friend.
It is rare you catch me out and about without both a suit and a coat on, usually with the hood up raining or not.
I often keep a hobby knife on me for my wargaming; not too odd but I have it on me even when I'm not planning hobby stuff for some reason.
Every book I own has the letter "E" beginning at least one word in either the book title or author name.
I keep random disks of green plastic, a tape measure and a box of 27 dice in my pocket at all times.

I have a realy bad tendecy of holding my Iphone when im sleeping, and i allways tend to ask others where they are going even if i know where they are going T_T Just a bad habbit i guess
