Title: Furry Habits: Acting like animals
Post by: Vulpatrino on August 03, 2013, 09:38:37 PM
I was wondering if anyone else on the forums have ever acted like animals or their fursonas before.
Myself, for example, sometimes I go to sleep the way a cat would.

Anyone else?

o3o
I strangely act like my fursona most of the time without noticing it... like an uncontrollable urge to climb a tree and swing around, or I do this without a second thought but I open bananas from the end like an actual monkey, all this time! never knew I was doing it wrong. Just need an actual monkey tail and my life would be complete! XD

Yes,
sometimes I would growl or grumble like my fursona.
I used to try and make t-rex noises when I was a kid/younger. I'd try to reproduce the velociraptor noises, but those never succeeded XD
And some other things too ^^

I like to stretch and nap a lot, but that's probably just because I'm lazy.

I'll occasionally find myself on all fours when I'm in a situation when I'd ordinarily need to simply crouch/kneel down, and I've always had a thing for climbing on big rocks! :D I'll also tilt my head to the side when confused or curious, as many mammals—not just ringtails—will do. :3

I tend to growl when I'm annoyed with something. Other than that, not really.

Certainly! I make a lot of noises and utilize gestures quite often, I enjoy using body language to show my mood and I've attempted running on all fours, and a ton of more stuff :3

Oh yeah! I make animal noises, hold stuff in my mouth like a dog all the time, curl up and stretch like an animal, do head tilts to express confusion, all sorts of things  XD

Oh, I also tilt my head for some reason whenever I'm confused or wondering something.

I growl tilt my head and even lay my ears flat along my head (I have very dexterous ears) and have to keep from instinctively biting not to mention follow my sense of smell alot

Very much so. I growl a lot, I like to be in dark places, I've seemed to have be able to see in the dark quite a bit more than the usual person. I also tend to eat just about everything with my hands (except maybe mashed potatoes XP)

my ex used to a hell of a lot... but he was a lion so he could. i'm hedgehog, and we don't really make many noises. when i've hung out with other furs and they've beeing chittering and meeping at eachother, it looks like fun! ... i'm still having trouble finding my way to fit in with the whole thing, but i don't think that's it.

I would sometimes do small huskeh whines when I'm caught in head scratching situations. Not much besides that.

Short answer, yes.
I'm always over-exaggerating my movement so they often come out rather animalistic XD
It's a small expression of freedom I guess.

My fursona's a cartoon character/ slightly exaggerated image of myself so it isn't hard to "act" like him.  I'm an animated person who likes to party and work out lol

Do to the fact I'm a wrestler I have a lot of opportunities to be.... Not civilized I guess.  Anyway I growl at my opponents and I've been told its intimidating  :)

Yes, yes I do.
I meow, growl, purr all pretty much subconsciously.
And the boyfriend's found that if you scratch behind my ear or at the base of my skull I immediately relax (seriously, have you ever had someone rub behind your ear? Best. Feeling. Ever.) people who are really close to me (as in emotionally, not just randoms standing near me in the street :P ) also end up with me rubbing my head against their shoulder affectionately when I'm all sleepy-mood.
I tilt my head when thinking things over, my first instinct when someone gets in my face is to bite...
And I sleep curled in a ball :)

Also, nice to meet another cat, Tabbitha! You seem lucky, having a partner who'll do stuff like that.

I'm actually the only fur I know IRL. My friends just indulge my furriness. XD Although one of them considers herself a panda and often behaves in a very panda-like manner.

None of my close friends are furries...neither are my distant ones...I've met a quite a few furs and they all live pretty far away. They all think I'm weird but they're not any better so we collectively form a misfit bond.

Yes, all the time.
I often find myself acting out situations in my mind as my 'sona. They range from me clicking my mandibals in boredom, to pinning somebody down who has annoyed me and eating their face (is that healthy?).

The interesting thing about me is my friends all know I'm a furry.  And I honestly think the reason I'm considered popular in my school is because I'm a furry.  There are people who don't lie me for it but the vast majority seem to be more interested and friendly around me because of it.  I bring stuffed animals to school and all other types of stuff.  And it only seems to make people want to be around me more.  Which is both a positive and a negative for me because to much exposure to people makes me unhappy.  And I don't have any friends IRL that are furries.  But I wish I did

Aaaaw, but you're a huskeh.! Huskies and wolves are amazing! (as are all other animals, but I'm especially biased when it comes to wolf-like creatures :P favoritism)

*le tail wag*

Yeah, I totally love huskies cuz they reflect my character as a person too!  ^_^

But here, there's only a handful of closet furries and only a few have stepped out by fursuiting at cosfests and stuff like that. It's a lil weird to people here to have animal like behavior...yeah, and you'll end up feeling awkward yourself xD

Love wolves and actually have sooo much trouble liking cats but they're what fit my personality :) So I know what you mean there!

Well to be honest if it wasn't for Maine I wouldn't have joined the community either :) she told me about it and I was more than a little bit like O_o o_O (the only other "furries" I'd heard of where the... less PG kind :P )

I'm just glad there are family-friendly furries.

At first, all I'd heard of were the "adult" kind, ahem, ahem!

My boyfriend is close friends with two "adult" furries..
I told him about this site and his first reaction was "You? Really? Well a tail could work-"
"NO!!!!"
>.<
You don't do that to my Tabz :(

But yes, long story short I'm glad there are others out there who always felt a little more inclined to animalistic behavior n_n I is not alone

I do A LOT of dog like stuff. I'll growl, tilt my head, whimper, go on all fours..... Even when I yawn, I have these weird way of stretching Ny tongue out the way a dog does. I tend to do all of it without really noticing it, too. When I was little (ages 3-6-ish) I even used to kind of 'roleplay' as a dog around the house. I don't know why, I guess I was always a furry at heart.

I do some things. I tilt my head when confused, I jump on a bed and go on all-fours, and, only to people I know, I scratch doors instead of knock.

I also scratch doors, especially when I want my sister to get out of the bathroom so I can use it.

I'll tilt my head too when I'm listening to someone.

I walk on my toes, especially when I run.

I'll snuggle up and roll around on my back when it's cold and I'm just lying in bed. Mostly because my boyfriend thinks it's adorable.

And yeah,Nimian,I roleplayed as a dog too when I was small.  ^_^

You guys just reminded me.. When I was little I used to role play around the house a lot. Okay.. I still do :P
But when I had my first day of primary school (I must've been about five) my mum sat me down to give me The Talk.
"okay Tabz, try not to pretend to be a cat while at school, you might make it hard for your teacher to teach."

Some of it sunk in, because when I got home my reply was "don't worry mum, I didn't pretend to be a cat today. I was a Guinea-Pig!"

About 1/5 of my personality is Jake when I'm at school. Then when I get home, Jake takes over 3/4 of my personality.

I just realized how my little sister "roleplays" as a dog all the time, exclusively loves animals, and even has fox ears. I might have a furry sister coming out of the closet. ^^

Furries don't come out of the closet as furries, if that's what you mean >.>

That's like coming out of the closet as a, I don't know, video game fan.
Title: Re: Furry Habits: Acting like animals
Post by: EvilCorgi on September 17, 2013, 04:10:37 PM
More like coming out of the closet as a Call of Duty fan. People are going to complain about your tastes, but it's just going to be even weirder if you make a big event out of it. Neither will solicit more than an "Oh, okay then." out of anybody these days.

I absolutely do NOT do this. My fursona is a dragon, yes. But I find that acting like something I'm not would fade the line between what's real and what's not and honestly; I like reality a lot better than fantasy. Although fantasy is nice to jump into once and a while when I'm feeling down :3.

It's funny when I practice (well, practiced, I have it down now) growls and stuff just to see if I can do it. If anyone is around and I didn't know it, they try to get me on video.

All the time! :D
I often growl without noticing, and recently I've begun to purr, despite being a dragon, it's like a content grumbling.
I also wag my tail often, most commonly when with my gf ofc XD
I like to wear my collar and leash and walk on all fours, but again the all fours is most often when in the presence of my gf.
Otherwise I wear my collar at random and play with the leash XD love it!.
I also tend to stretch my back as though I'm spreading my wings.

I love how all these tendencies just kinda grow on you after a while, without even noticing :D

I have! Just the other day I was bored and actually laid on the ground and through magnets in the air catching them pretending I was a cat...
I often go to bed pretending I'm an animal, curling up, and I often imagine cuddling like an animal.
I growl, chirp, meow, bark, and do other sounds sometimes on purpose, but a lot of the time without noticing.

idoidoidoidoidoidoido!

I growl when I'm angry, or purr when I'm happy and I love belly rubs o3o
I always wear a tail when I go out, and wag it constantly x3
I wear a collar with an actual dog tag that says "Serenity / Alaskan Klee Kai" on it! It has a bell on it, too, cause I love bells o3o
I shake my butt and pounce my mate when I'm in a playful mood and growl playfully, or when i'm tired i curl up into a little ball of "fluff". I whimper when something bad happens or I'm scared, etc. o3o
