Title: Feeling Ignored
Post by: KatTheCatCalledTasha on August 06, 2007, 09:15:50 AM
I joined IMVU as a furry a few weeks ago, and after countless times having been ignored when I clicked 'Chat Now' I have come to the conclusion that people don't like to speak to furries. Is this true with others? I click 'chat now' and when a fellow avatar comes up, I say 'hey' and they say 'lol, you're a cat' and that pretty much ends it. There are two major things wrong with that statement;

Number 1) I don't think that the fact I choose to be a furry, because they're cute, fun to be and all round fantastic, should interfere with my social life on IMVU.

and

Number 2) I'm not a cat. I'm a wolf. With cat ears.

Is anybody suffering the same thing? It's really annoying me. How am I meant to enjoy IMVU when nobody will talk to me? Of course, I do find the odd furry on IMVU but 8/10 times they're not online when I am.  :th_PyongLlora:

Your problem is that you are using the "chat now".
If someone starts calling you rude names and such for no apparent reason then flag the chat as abusive.
Some times people will leave the chat even before your avatar will load.

You can make friends here if you want furries to talk to.
Or visit Razi's Home Page.

Hey, thanks for your replies. :D

What is it with people and furries anyway? They seem to be under the impression that we look the same as that in the real world. =/

Or maybe some of us do...we may never know...:S

And what is it with people always wanting to cybyze? :O I feel your pain...crazeyfox (or is there another name you would rather I called you?). It's the same with me. I also get the 'don't eat me', but then sometimes that's to my pet dragon. *mwa ha ha*

I've never actually met another furry online before. Ok, one. But that was only a human avatar with cat ears. Does that count? I'm just going to look up furries on IMVU instead...much easier....

Well... I don't usually use the Chat Now! feature, because it pairs you with a random person. And... Yeah. That's not good. However...

I have found a new use for it. If i click on it, while in my wolf clothes and the like, they often leave right away. Right after my avatar is loaded up, they leave. :3
No idea why i find that funny, though. I just get their thoughts in my head. "OH NO, A FURRY!! Close window! CLOSE WINDOW!! ...phew..." XD
Strangely enough, if i just have wolf ears and tail with the rest "human", some people actually talk to me.

Anyway, if anyone wants to add me, i suppose i should give away my not-so-very-top-secret name. It's OokamiLupus. ^^

Well hewo. I dont use the Chat Now! button cuz they scream and run...I use the Find A Friend one. Much cooler...

Well, isn't the find a friend button pretty much the same? Ok, besides the fact you choose the type of people you want to talk to. =/ No, I like meeting random people. Just not when they run away.

"OH NO, A FURRY!! Close window! CLOSE WINDOW!! ...phew..." XD

Niceley put.  :P

WELL download it again ^.^ i would love to talk to more people :)

i tried... methinks my vid card is too ancient (my father does computers for a living, he made *MADE* this one for me special, for my 13th birthday. I am now 18. This comp runs on windows, and has parts from every computer known to man, including one he stole from a JPL Lab dumpster, and my boyfriend's old iMac. Tis my Frankencomp.  :) )) Oh well. Talk to me here or join CSI: Furdom, my thread in serious RP forums.

I'm trying! I just can't afford new parts and resort to picking through other peoples rubbish bins to find useable stuff. Yes, I confess, I am an inveterate Dumpster Diver and scavenger, as is my father, who assisted me in raiding a construction site bin for free bricks about an hour ago. I also raise chickens in my backyard and am building a greenhouse that isn't meant for weed growing. I'm a California redneck!  :th_PyongLlora:

Jude... there is nothing wrong in being more self-sufficient and being more conservative. I can basically repair any computer from spare parts and have "Frankenstiened" many also in my repairs. I have grown plants, picked blackberries from thorn bushes, picked pears from a wild pear tree, and have almost resorted to hunting. All of this has taught me to be more self-reliant and self-sufficient to a degree, so have no shame in that.

I dont get new parts heh..most of them are out of date heh but they still work really good. I save my money ALOT i prolly spend more money on the computer than i do on myself that includes food lol

Well, the chickens were birthday and graduation presents. (true terror is getting 25 baby chicks in the mail in a small box, opening the lid, and having what seems like hundreds of cheeping puffballs leap out at  you) My father and I both love gardening, and tend to be a bit overzealous. (never plant more than four tomato plants unles you are seriously considering opening a farmer's market stall) We both scavenge and Dumpster Dive, which is how I got most of my fishing equipment and my computer. My crowning achievement is coming home from one fishing trip with two new (old) fishing poles that I'd found half buried in lake muck besides an anchor with chain still attached and a boat propeller. Big Bear lake was 20 feet down that summer and I suppose that was where some fool got sandbarred and lost a fair bit of gear. The anchor and prop I sold to a boat rental place for a free motorboat four hour rent, and the poles were refinished and work great!

Dad and I also got through insane hobby phases, the most recent being furniture salvage and repair, followed by setting up a full tropical fish hatchery in our garage and raising swordtails, angelfish, and guppies.

What pictures? ??? (and has anyone noticed how this pyong and  >:| this one look somehow like an Adventures of Tintin character? The expressions are drawn similar to the style of Herge.))

Pet chickens are fun, but the fact that you have to find homes for around twenty of the ones you can't keep, and choose which ones have to go, is really heartwrenching! Poor little guys!
Title: Re: Feeling Ignored
Post by: KatTheCatCalledTasha on August 11, 2007, 01:01:29 PM
The pictures are gone now, but they were pictures of cats and kittens being horrifically abused and killed. *erghh..* it makes me sick just thinking about them.

Aww...I asked my parents for two pet chickens, but I wasn't allowed them. :(

Eeew! Were they those stomp fetish pictures from Snopes? OMG, I was reading the Urban Legends in there and clicked on the  pics and actually fainted.

As to my chickens' names, they are:

Almost Soup, Marshmellow (bc she's the exact color of a perfectly toasted marshmellow, lol), Chipmunk (she had chipmunk stripes as a chick) Twin, (Chip's twin sister), Nero, Napoleon, and Caesar (three obnoxious little Barred Rocks that attack everyone.)

We also had a rooster named after my old friend from Gaia, Dahark, but he kept crowing (or trying to crow, he never quite got it, it sound more like he was yelling Bah! Nah! than the rooster crow heard normally) We gave him away to a ranch with fifteen hens for him to chase. He was a happy boy after that. ^ ^

*gives you hug and cookies* I'm sorry, that really is scary. People need to impose harsher sentences on animal abusers. If they're evil enough to do that to a helpless animal, what could they do to a person?

They have had debates on what to do about such people and what they consider 'potential serial killers', along with research on the mindsets of such individuals.

I wish they'd kick it up a bit, but prisons are so overcrowded its ridiculous. I think we need prison colonies again! Maybe in 300 years we'll have a new Australia. ((Go Australia for naming one of its discount stores Jack the Slasher. That's the funniest thing ever and I wish I had some item with the tag on it. *I am fascinated by the Jack the Ripper theories, I blame my Uncle Dennis the coroner for that*))

Our prisons aren't overcrowded (I'm in the UK). People never get long enough sentences, and 'life' is only 10-20 years in prison. >:(

Meh... not to be overly dramatic and passionate about something like that, but if they intentionally killed (by tortuous means) a creature or human being, and the intention was not for hunting to survive... then they deserve the fate they bestowed upon their victim.

But the original topic this place was 'Feeling Ignored'... let's get it back to the first poster's intention please.
