Hai gaiz!
I wasn't really active on FA, and with the recent attack, and the staffs' failure to follow the law of their state and whatnot, and I didn't really like the layout much beforehand, I mostly just went there because everyone else was there. I've decided I'll probably -not- use FA a whole lot, if at all. I looked around, and I like both Weasyl and FN layout, but I'm just wondering; if you guys use either of them, which do you prefer and why? I made an account on both of them, but for right now I'm just getting comfortable with the layouts and bits and bobs of them.
:D

Im on both (if you wanna add me) from the little ive seen of Fn it seems the more social one whereas i like weasly better to dump art.
-
Furrynetwork seems to be the "in" place currently.
Weasyl.. eh.. does anyone still use that?
As for FA, what do you mean failure to follow laws and stuff? I would say don't believe everything you read because honestly, there's so many myths and conspiracies going around you're better off just ignoring most of it. The recent attack isn't to blame FA for either, it really could happen to anyone.

Thanks for the input!! <3
And in California and Virginia both (I think the host and staff are in those two states), it's required that, if there's been a security breach like what happened wif FA, they need to send out an e-mail to everyone telling them that the site is hacked/down, and e-mails associated with those accounts could be compromised, if they use the same password. A friend of mine received a nasty call from someone calling him a furfag two days after the stuff happened, from a number he didn't recognize. He knows his password for his e-mail tied in with FA was similar (with a number being the difference, and his work number in his contact info for his e-mail). It's no fault to FA regarding that, but if he would have known the site had been hacked into, he would have known to maybe change his password. Another friend of mine also had their paypal drained a few days ago, again using the same password as FA. It could be a coincidence, but it all happened in the time frame, so.. yeah. But I dunno, I'm not that big of a code nerd myself. :)
Plus I like the look of the newer sites moar. <3

Never heard of such a law before. And even if that is the case I would doubt too many are following it.
They announced it on all the places they use to keep people up to date; Their forums, Twitter, Facebook etc
Newsletters or any form of communication by Email has never been something that FA really does.
Oh, I might add that a similar hack happened to LinkedIn just a couple of days ago.

Meh, sucks for the people who don't have those :P It's in section... 502 I think, of some code for the state of California. I don't live there so I dunno the exact place, but I've seen if before. And dang, linkedin is still around?
-
its law to inform useres of a breach in alot of places (linked in didnt do it right but they did it still since theirs happened 2012 but info was becoming avlible a few days ago)
yes they did tell people but only after putting the site in read only so no one could change their password i got in early and did mine as soon as i heard about the hack along with changing the email it used
as for other sites: no i dont bother its just more passwords to need to remember and that i use da and fa only for art even then its not always checked

After the whole ordeal with IMVU, and now this, I've been actively trying to get away from FA. Problem is, that's where my clients are...and nobody wants to be active on any other sites. People need to move en masse or else FA is going to rein forever :/
I jumped onto Weasyl as soon as it opened for closed beta a couple years ago (you had to donate to get in). But for whatever reason I just can't get into it.
Furry Network seems more promising, and they get bonus points on how they handled that recent scenario

This!
I have the same problem. I'm also on dA though, and I have about as much connection on dA as FA, but of course dA isn't specifically furry-focussed. All that's left is FA. And FA seems to have quite a bunch of problems. I know it's hard to probably keep it all safe and whatnot, but I do feel they need to step up their game. Too much wrong stuff has happened in a short timespan.
Anyways, that's my two-cents. To get back on topic:
I never heard about Furrynetwork, but I'll be sure to check it out some time. Always looking for furry places to be a bit more active on ;D
As for Weasyl, it seems rather slow or 'dead'. So I dunno *shrugs*

I've never used Furry Network, SoFurry, InkBunny, or anything other than Fur Affinity and DeviantART. I did try Weasyl once, but I couldn't stand the way it worked, looked, nor did I like how inactive it is compared to Fur Affinity. FA is fine. I used to use DA more, but after a lot of technical problems with being able to make comments and send notes, which the support team could NOT do anything to help with, I pretty much gave up on it. Plus I'm tired of most of the.. crap, that's on there.

I think my big issue with Weasyl is that it always feels like you have to be a high-profile artist to really get any sort of views/attention. If you're low-profile, or just a commissioner, there's really no sense on being there.
FurryNetwork, I haven't bothered with yet. Too busy worrying about work/life to make *another* furry art profile, considering I've got one just about everywhere so far. I've heard some good, some bad, and some neutral things about it. I know a lot of people were having issue with the recent ban on cub related material, because it again limits those types of artists/fans to InkBunny, but eh. I'll try it out eventually.

you have to be a high profile artist to get views on any of these sites lol ive got some stuff on all of them and very few views on them, not saying i deserve view but yeh...

Well, that actually ups its chances to be used by me. I guess.

Eh, I wouldn't say that's true. I've got tons of watchers/views on FA and IB compared to Weasyl. In fact, my newer FA profile managed to still do better than the Weasyl one I had probably a year prior.

kk i may have to focus abit harder on it
