Title: The Furry Forums - What, Why, How?
Post by: Ventus Fall on November 04, 2016, 03:48:55 PM
It suddenly occurred to me -and I became quite curious- as to why others use this forum, and how. I also thought it might be a great way to get to know one another better as well.
So here are the questions:
Any more questions? Write them down, let me know. Maybe I can add them in if there are any good suggestions :)

Now discuss! :P

For me I use these forums differently than I used to in the beginning.
Originally: I signed up here when I wanted to find out about furries and the fandom. I did create a persona (fursona) at the time. Connecting to people, see what it was all about, understanding the fandom and its inhabitants :P
Now: I'm on here to connect to people and stay in contact. To talk to like-minded people, to be creative. This forum was an amazing start/base for me to get a direction what I wanted to do with my art, art style, etc. I've always loved drawing fantasy things/creatures/etc. but to have more of a direction really helped me. Plus this is a great way to get a focus-group and find people who are interested in artwork overall. So yeah!

Heh, don't worry, me too :)
So why did you use Google to find the forums? What made you type in the search bar Furry Forums or something like so?

After I finished researching what a furry is and understood I am one I searched for community that look active professional. This came up immediately.

1. Not a lot these days, but I keep an eye out for interesting/useful topics.

2. Mainly because of how much I used to hang out here.

3. Was looking for someone to talk to during a kinda low time, though a forum could be the place. It did work, too!

When I discovered the furry fandom I thought there might be a few furry forums. I went looking with Google. I wanted to join an Christian furry forum and that's how it started off. However, that forum was fairly slow so I looked further. I still remembered this site and that it had an therian/otherkin board. Since I discovered my therianthropy a few months earlier I thought I could make an account here and maybe discover other aspects of the fandom as well. (Especially RPs, though RPs didn't went all that well from the start so I dropped that later). Later on I made friends here, helped others around and even starting to love one of the other members. Now I mostly use it to keep contact with the few friends I made on here, and I still help others out sometimes.

I just thought I would make a few friends since I haven't really made the effort before.
This place seems pretty cool, so I decided to stay. And a friend recommended this site to me, though they are no longer active.

I've been on several forums, both furry and non-furry, throughout the past... geez, must be over 15 years now. A few years ago, the forum that had been my home away from home online for a long while began to fall apart and I left.

I found that I missed it though. I'd had friends there, and though I continue to keep in touch with a few of them on Facebook, I missed having a place to socialize online. There was a hole in my online life, so I undertook a search for a new forum.

I tried the Geek and Sundry forum, since I like Felicia Day and a lot of their programming. It was okay, but very slow. There's barely a few posts a week these days.

Then I thought to do a Google search for furry forums and found this place, and I'm very glad I did.

I'm looking to make friends, and this seemed like a good place to start.
The community seems pretty welcoming from what I've seen of it so far, which is great for someone like me.
I just googled "furry forums".

● What do you use these forums for?

Socializing, for one. Secondly, to possibly get back into the roleplay scene.

● Why do you use these forums?

This site is so much better than I originally hoped. I thought it was going to be another dead, hierarchical forum, but it's not. It's a living, breathing, welcoming community.

● How did you find these forums?

I remember someone mentioning this site a few years ago, wayyy back on another forum. Just decided to make an account, and here I am.

● What do you use these forums for?

I'm still a noob here, but I signed up to meet some more furs local to me, and to hopefully get back into the roleplay scene.

● Why do you use these forums?

Mainly because of how welcoming the community here is, plus its based on the same forum code as the other site I RP on, so its got a very similar layout :P

● How did you find these forums?

I found the forum through Google with 'Furry Forums' as the term lol
