Hello!
I've been curious about my pull towards the furry community for quite a while now, ever since I can remember really. When I was a kid, I always enjoyed the anthro-animals in cartoons and wanted to look like one, but didn't know why. Then I heard about the furries and couldn't help but feel like I was a part of them...even though I knew nothing about them.
However, due to fear of rejection from other people, I've always pushed these feelings away and never explored my fursona or the community. I guess I'm writing this because I'm looking for guidance and help as I finally delve in to this side of me.
I've come to the conclusion that my species would be an Otter, I identify with them a lot. But that is all I know about myself right now...anyone have any tips on how to continue developing myself?
OH! Also, my name is Emily, I'm 19-nearly 20. I live in Canada, but hope to be moving to Austin, Texas to be with my fiancé once we're married. I love anything artistic and creative, I write songs and aspire to be an actor. I also adore meeting new people. :*
I hope you're all having a wonderful day! I hope to find my fursona a little more here. ^_^

I too, was scared if rejection so I never truley became a furry when I found out about it!!
If you need a friend, feel free to PM me!! I love chattin with people. Have a great experience on the forum!

Welcome to the forum, my dear name twin! My name is also Emily!
I'm super new around here too, don't worry!
Here's some things that I've found to be helpful in building up my fursona!
If you need help fleshing out your fursona, I'd head over to this link:
https://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?topic=18015.0 (https://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?topic=18015.0)
It's a wonderful post I got linked to when I first started; it goes through a lot of details and actually has some q&a type examples/ideas from other furries.
I made my fursona avatar using Fursona Maker by Team Amorous but I don't know if they have the body options for an otter...but look around for a character generator that does have them.
Gaining ideas is easy once you know your species and the colours you like - simple as a quick google image search about otter furry reference sheets.
Another great thing for helping figure out your Fursona's personality, markings, likes, dislikes, etc etc is scrolling through a certain forum post in the General section called You and Your Fursona(s).
Everyone on there fills out a character sheet and posts it there. Names, meanings, markings, personalities, ages, sexual orientations...the lot. I've got a post on there myself, right at the very end.
That said, your Fursona should come from you and have YOUR uniqueness flowing into it. Ideas are great, but creativity and meaning is even better. The name Nova means a lot to me, for example.
I hope you enjoy yourself here, take your time to explore the forum! There's plenty of places to meet other furries who understand you, whether it be on the Canada thread and Otter thread (I don't think it's called the Otter thread but I'm sure there's one on there) in the Meet Other Furries section or on threads to do with your hobbies.
Always feel free to PM if you want to ask a question or even just to chat.
