New to these forums, happy to meet all of you!
-
Welcome to the Forums, Medroesh! ^_^ Always great to see new faces, mostly everyone here is really friendly and meeting, I hope you have a great time here. Cheers! :)
-
Hey, welcome to the forum.
I must admit: you've quite the short introduction.
May I ask a few questions? What do you study and what are your hobbies?
If you may have any questions: you can always post 'm here or send them to me in a PM.
Like I said: be welcome and have fun
-
My apologies! I didn't want to fill it up too much and intimidate people into not chatting with me.
I enjoy studying ancient cultures, with Norse and Endo-European tribes being my focus. I also enjoy resesrching the history of the occult, and the evelution of religions ideologies.
My hobbies mostly stick to studying stuff (lots of trips to the library and university), playing video games (lots of World of Warcraft and RPGs), and just chatting to people online. I prefer to spend my time at work or at home whenever possible.

(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y229/johnraptor/Emotes/TsaenoaEmotes-cheeky_zps0tsogl4a.gif) Why thank you, I am feeling quite beautiful today.
I'm a history and comparative religion buff too. My particular area of interest is the middle ages, from the viking age to the early renaissance, and comparable eras from other parts of the world.
-
Truly a pleasure to meet you, John Red Beard!
It's awesome to meet a fellow history buff and furry! What is your favorite part of the renaissance? For me, it's the rise of pagan cults that saw religion as more a state of mind and way of thinking rather than a literal interpretation of teachings and religious lore.
-
I originally got interested in the era for the sword fights and castle sieges, and all that good stuff, and it's still good stuff, but the more I learn about it, the more interested I get in the normal day-to-day stuff: how people lived, what they ate, what they did for fun, things like that.
-
Interesting to see another person being interested in history.
I prefer Belgian/International history from 1885-1995
But I also like to bring history alive by restoring old trains and trams

*waves paw - flicks tail-tip*
Hai and welcome Medroesh

we are all friendly here
I"m Jyotis, the friendly and snuggable snoleo
-
Hiya Medroesh!
Glad you found us. I hope you makes some great friends and have lots of fun here.
Feel free to look around and don't be shy to ask questions.
As a fellow library frequenter I'm curious, what are some of your favourite books/authors?
-
*Waves excitedly at Jyotis* A pleasure to meet such a cute snoleo!
Also, thank you Trixsie! I intend to! Most of the books I check out are for general research. The books I enjoy I buy to have in my personal library. My all times favorites are:
The Withern Rise trilogy by Michael Lawrence
Harry Potter series by J.K.Rowling
Demonata seriez by Darren Shan
Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer
I spend so much time reading textbooks and historical stuff that I like to read fantasy whenever I get the chance. What about yourself, Trixsie?
-
Well, for fun I like fantasy too. JK Rowling, JRR Tolkien, Terry Pratchett, Robin Hobb, George RR Martin.
For non-fiction I quite like Jared Diamond, Richard Dawkins, Stephen J Gould, Carl Sagan, Steven Pinker and others.
Sadly since I finished my degree I haven't gotten back into reading as much as I'd like :/
Your name is interesting, where do it come from?
-
I don't know where exactly it comes from, as it could very well be a fully made up name. I know that ever since I was a child I insisted on people calling me by Medroesh or just "Med". I still go by it today.
What is your degree in, if I may ask? I'm in the medical field. OR/Surgical attendant with a focus on trauma, CVOR, and mentally ill patients.
-
I did a double major in psychology and philosophy focusing on evolutionary psych, cognitive neuroscience, and philosophy of science and analytic philosophy.
Wow! I admire your dedication. I work in a tertiary hospital so I know what that entails. Personally I couldn't do it, I have a lot of admiration for trauma response.
That's fascinating about the name. I googled it out of curiosity and only got a few hits I suspect might be you. I find language fascinating and the etymology of names especially intriguing. An original name is a beautiful thing! Kudos! ^_^
-
I just googled it myself and everything on the first page of google is stuff involving me. My stuff on other sites and some stuff from people I know. Haven't googled it in ages.
Also, I'm very impressed by your background! I never would have been able to stay so grounded as to have been able to earn that level of education in those fields.
-
Thanks! It was tough, I did it while working and raising my cubs.
That's why when I finished I was so glad for a break from reading to a deadline I stopped. I really need to get back into it. I actually just started a book just because it's not a challenging read XD
I must spend too much time on here >.>
To be fair I do waste a lot of time drawing and writing poetry and other silliness.
Have you had a chance to explore TFF much yet?
-
I'm sorry, but TFF?
-
I'm sorry, but TFF?
The Furry Forum aka this forum :)
-
Oh! I'm sorry! I haven't explored much. I have mostly read posts about the rules, profile customization, proper etiquette, and only made a few posts in estsblished threads other than this one.
I am currently at work (waiting for a case to come in so I have something to do) and navigating with a phone can be tedious. I intend to spend more time here through out the week though.
Where, in your opinions, would be some good places to start really becoming a member of the community?
Thank you so much Trixsie Vixen and Bricket, for being such awesome community reps!
-
Hmm, that's a tricky question since I just started to post here.
A good place to blend in really well could be the furries den but mostly: every thread/topic is good to start :)
-
YOU READ THE RULES!?!?!?!
Wow. I like the cut of your jib!
As for where to jump in, I rather like forum games and off-topic as my default boards. But if you're into roleplaying the Fun RP area is good too.
-
YOU READ THE RULES!?!?!?!
I think you just become best friends with Trixsie.
But yes, offtopics and forum games are in general great places to start
-
Of course I read the rules, seems rude not to! It also helps me avoid drama and trouble.
Drama and trouble = https://www.google.com/search?q=aint+nobody+got+time+for+dat&client=ms-android-att-us&prmd=ivsn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjnq_vr6ufRAhVlzVQKHYZ8CnIQ_AUIBygB&biw=640&bih=280#imgrc=KmwXusSBeIWA0M%3A (https://www.google.com/search?q=aint+nobody+got+time+for+dat&client=ms-android-att-us&prmd=ivsn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjnq_vr6ufRAhVlzVQKHYZ8CnIQ_AUIBygB&biw=640&bih=280#imgrc=KmwXusSBeIWA0M%3A)
And I will take those threads into consideration after get over my shyness ^.^
-
Don't worry about Shyness, first time I joined here I also was quite short on words and a tad shy to say.
You'll get over it, just throw yourself into the game (=forum I should say)
-
Hi there, welcome to the forums. I hope you have a great time here.
-
Hi Medroesh welcome to the forum and have fun ^_^ .
