Coursework data collection help!
« on: February 28, 2012, 02:30:56 PM »
Hey guys!

I desperately need your help here. I'm doing a piece of coursework for school, and the main body of it is to show my data collection skills, meaning I need to find as much data as I can on a single subject (obviously). My chosen subject is "the psychological affects of violent video games." This means both negative and positive, so I need both sides of course.

Now, part of this data collection is a quantity-based one. In this case, I've created a 10 question survey (stupid limits) that I need as many people as possible to fill in. Our reccommended target is around 100 people. We don't have to reach that limit, so long as we show our collection skills, but we still need to collect as many results as we can.

So, could you take out just a few minutes of your time to ask you to fill it in? http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2GSB5M3

Thanks so much guys! ^^

"5. It's proven that aggression levels change while playing violent video games. Do you think this change is permanent?"

False, from what I've read. Aggression levels are higher while playing, surely, but if anything people of all ages (16-60) are more calm while not playing, if they regularly play video games for at least a couple of hours a week.

I cant speak for him, but since its a survey, I'd assume he'd have his reasons for asking :P
hes not saying it is :P

I mean, they dont base scientific surveys off opinion xD but of course...this one isnt exactly scientific now is it...

Thanks guys, much appreciated ^^

I'm well aware, my secondary research is just facts facts facts from research that's already been approved. It was hard to devise a primary research to gather facts so, after asking my teacher, it's come down more to what the public opinion and knowledge is rather than the actual facts.

Aggression levels do rise while playing, and after playing there's a 3-4 minute cooldown slot but after that they're back to normal. Well, some research says. There's a LOT of contradiction in the current research, but this specific one is much more plausible and has more reliable results than "once you play, you're angry forever."
