Voodoo and thaumaturgy both creep me out a little, but maybe that is just because I don't know much about them. I am a big believer in karma though!

You will actually be surprised to know that it isn't all black magic and doing bad unto people. That's just the way the media portrays the religion.


I'm a beginner in Vodou, the mother of all the voodoo's. When you do black magic unto others or just black magic in general it will come back on you three times as bad.

Voodoo dolls are a common misconception portrayed in movies and media as well.


Vodou, which originated in Haiti, is very culturally rich and a very social religion despite what rumors and internet articles and the media will falsely portray to you.


I could use our community as an example of a rumor gone wrong.


Most people who hear the word furry automatically thinks of us doing sexual acts upon animals or "getting it on" in fursuits. When we're not. We're fans of anthromorphic animals and feel that we are a little more than human on the inside.

Well for example my bow. It has been passed down for many generations through my family, I am American Indian 50%.
When I am out hunting it seams that no matter how windy it may be if I shoot from that bow It will fly straight. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but the wind has a big influence on an arrow.


That is just one example.

It sounds as if the bow has been blessed by one of your ancestors.



Because I've never heard of any bow shooting perfectly straight even in the windiest conditions.

that is just one of my examples. one of my favorites is my $0.50 coin that every time I have it bad things happen to me... but then as soon as I get rid of it good thing happen to me.

I look at it as balancing out my karma. I don't want it to fall into the wrong into the wrong hands... so I buried it with a few other things

  4) Would you call voodoo a religion, if not how would you describe it?

Oh wow this is really interesting! I only believed in the media as well, but already I've learned its much more than that. I can't wait until you add more, I'm eager to learn. That bow and coin sound so intriguing... I wish I had something like that Or maybe I do and I'm just not mature enough to see it...

I'm a Witch ... Voodoo and witchcraft have a lot of similarities ... I've been a witch for 3 years now ... I can't tell that I am a successful witch but I try ... It also Isn't all the dark magic ... It is just the stories and tv that make It look like that ... I study white magic and there are a lot of spells that are used for helping other people ... I have a small coven ... It is just me and two of my girl friends ... Some times we get joined by other people but they are there just for the show We usually make a pentagram of salt, put candles at each end and sit there and say all kinds of spells ... We don't dare to try out the dark stuff ... It is said that dark magic can mess up your head and some times even be lethal ... I like talking about this ... I don't know If you actually want to hear about It since this is a Voodoo thread after all

Well we in witchcraft use artifacts to draw energy from them ... It helps us with the spells and doesn't drain our energy as spells usually do Every witch needs to has one artifact to help in spells Mine is a neckless

I collect artifacts because I believe that each artifact can give give you special abilities, but at the same time they each have a down side.


I need to know what the ups and downs to these artifacts are.
