Depends on the suit, if you have a cooling vest and the place you're suiting in.. If it's a suit with lots of extra padding and stuff I'd rather not wear it in the middle of a hot summer day.
And speaking of famous fursuiters, the one I come to think of is Keenora.
Not sure if he's that well-known over there, but in this part of the world he should be somewhat at least... (He appeared in a swedish documentary about furries some years ago, if that counts for anything)
