Why is it so funny for some people, but it hurts you?

I absolutely HATE teasing and harassing, ESPECIALLY if it comes from a family member (my dad's been teasing me lately about various things I do and also about doing sexual things with girls which I really don't want to talk about with my father).

He just can't get it through his bald head that I'm sensitive to that kind of thing and that he needs to stop.

I feel your pain...

My mother would do that to me all the time, teasing me and making fun of me. It nearly drove me insane. She always thought it was funny because it "got a rise out of me"... I mean, duh, of course I'm going to flip out if she keeps poking fun at everything I'm sensitive about.

It's amazing just how much of my stress was relieved when I started living away from her and that harassment.

Can either of you honestly say you don't or didn't make fun of people (not like bullying) on a subject which you know hey think is sensitive? C'mon it's funny! Yea, sometimes it hurts when other do it to you, but you do the same thing.

Yeah but I don't do it to personal things. I do it to what someone says something funny like instead of "Cuban Missile Crisis", this person said "Cuban Miranda Rights" which cracked everyone up. But teasing for who someone is isn't right.

There's a huge difference between a little teasing between friends who know you are just messing around and constant, hurtful jokes where a person doesn't know when to stop. The main difference being that with the former, the other person/people laugh with you, with the latter, it's just someone laughing at you. I can honestly say I don't tease people that way. I try very hard to be careful about what I say. (Not saying I'm perfect, there may have been a time or two when I didn't think about it, but at least 98% of the time, I don't poke fun at people.)

We all poke fun at each other at work...mainly gay stuff...we all make fun gay jokes about each other ...but it's all for jokes.

But I got poked fun at school all the time...not for jokes either. almost everyday...didn't bother telling the teacher though...because I knew they'd call a meeting between me and the person that was doing it and i'd just get worse after we had the "meeting"...I had it bad through school...although...I did earn a neat nick name...Chadricton it was...thought it was cool

In my family its dog eat dog you either make fun of someone else or you end up the victim of it. I leave in about ten days and I'm hoping i feel better, because thats the only thing that helps me get through the days lately.

i haven't purposely done that with anyone i hang out with alot, well. except for with rob, but he's the one who atarted that. But, i haven't done anything serious or hurtful like that to anyone i know after the experience i had with that in middle school. That for me was three years of hell, reason being i had long hair and wore hawaiian shirts most of the time, but that sort of thing really does bother me, the teasing and ridiculing.

i have a problem with getting teased at school, but then again i don't, because i dissregard what people(mainly stuck up preps) say because i could care less what they think, but if someone close to does it then it hurts. only my best friend knows im a fur, i told him today, i knew he would find out sooner or later(he might have already known) so i figured i would explain it to him so he wouldn't missunderstand it.
i also got a nickname im not so proud of "chubs"

I don't get much of this anymore, but it saddens me to see so many suffer, in any way. I find that by maintaining a "Frozen Soul" or "Frozen Heart", most forms of insults/teasing/general stress can be negated if you have enough willpower. It has its downsides though...

normaly people are more understanding if you talk to them when they arent saying anything to/about you and when its just you and them tell them its not a joke and that it realy hurts you
