Random Physics Questions

I was bored so I've decided to ask some physics questions, whoever answers them first will get their name in gold next to the question (you don't have to answer the whole question, you can just answer parts (like part a or part b)).

Alternatively, you can ask me questions and I will attempt to solve them.

You ARE allowed to use the internet to answer these questions.


Question 1:

A particle moves with velocity v = x. Where v = velocity and x = displacement.

a) What is the particles acceleration?
b) What is the particles displacement as a function of time, given that the particle initially starts at x = 1? What about when the particle starts at x = 0?

Question 2:

A particle (called Particle A) moves at 10 m/s in the x direction. Another particle (called Particle B) orbits particle A with an orbital velocity of 5 m/s and an orbital distance of r. 10 minutes pass.

a) What is the displacement of particle A?
b) What is the displacement of particle B? (Answer can be in terms of "r")
c) What values of r would be required such that the answers to a) and b) are the same? (Expecting a formula)
d) When r = infinity, the answers to a) and b) are equal, why is this so?

Question 3:

A space ship is traveling in the x direction at a constant velocity v, initially starting at x = 0.
A star, with the coordinates x = 0 and y = 100, explodes. It send deadly gamma radiation in all directions, this radiation traveling at a velocity of 1.

a) If v = 0, how long would it take for the light to reach the space ship?
b) What if v = 0.5? What about 0.99?
c) What velocity would the space ship need to travel such that light took exactly 10 minutes to reach the space ship?
d) If the space ship was not traveling horizontally, but instead was traveling at a 30 degree angle to the horizontal (still at constant velocity of v) what would be the new answer to c)?

Either that or the particle is at rest

My best guess  :P
