[Technical] Improved Personal Messaging

An improved PM system would be cool.

I'm thinking of a system that's organized so that you can view conversations based on [sender] and [message name]. I imagine it set up kinda like the forums are. Like, when someone replies to another person on a thread, it shows up in a [them], [me], [them], [me], kind of order instead of a [them], [them], [them], [They], [They], [They], sort of order.

You'd click on [username that sent you mesage] from the PM inbox. It will be organized by date so that the most recent sender is at the top. Then, you'd click on [message name] which would then show the order in which Person A and Person B replied; again, the most recent message will be at the top.

What I'm trying to say is: It's a little unconventional to not be able to see your last reply to a PM'd conversation without having to click on something else.[/me][/me]

Ah! Is this why I can't understand my PM layout anymore?

Can I please have them back to the old settings? I can't orientate here.
Can we at least have people choose how they want it?

Not that I disapprove of the idea, I think it's great for people who want it different so it's clearer for them. I just thought the Suggesstions board would have a bit more discussion on when and how to implement it?
This change is so sudden and quick too (which is good, but also extremely disorientating). Furthermore I can't find stuff.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with Ventus here when I say we should have an option to choose how our layout looks.

And I'd also like to add that moderator colours aren't shown in the PM layout too. If we would want people to see our messages more quickly, wouldn't our bright name colours being shown help?
I don't want anyone to get into trouble here because they couldn't see our messages, or because the PM system layout has so quickly and vastly changed.

That explains. In the past I used to click on one converastion and the entire conversations, with replies and all, showed up under the PM. Though that might not be as useful with these functions, it would still be nice if we could see the message under the list of PMs. Can we get that back, maybe?

I am a new member here and I didn't got to experience the old PM system but I can tell you what's wrong with this one.


First of all there's no continuity to the conversation. Each message that's sent is not organized in a conversation type way but instead it's on it's own.


Another problem is that by default new messages tend to appear in the last pages of your inbox. For example if I get a new PM now it doesn't appear to the first page but rather the last (fourth) page. Now, I am not sure if you can change that but I feel the default shouldn't be like that.


The lack of notifications also is bugging me. If I didn't have tapatalk to notify me I wouldn't know since email notifications work 35% of the time..


Personally for me the dealbreaker is that theres not continuity in the conversations. That's all from me :p

That could be changed before the new PM system by changing the personal message settings at your profile. I don't know what options still work and which ones don't, but I'll try to find it out.

EDIT: All options still seem to work. Go to your profile, then modify profile, select "personal messaging" and change "Show personal messages:" into "as conversation". However, I have a friend who uses Tapatalk. When I get a reply from him, it doesn't appear in the conversation, but rather creates a new conversation in the PM list.
Also, you probably want to tick the box "Show latest coversation at top".

Thanks you both for letting us know.

I do wish this gets fixed soon. It was changed from the 'old' system to the new system in about half a day from the moment of suggestion, and it's nearing three days in which various users are indicating issues.
I also wish there was a bit of warning or discussion before implementing something new, especially one so drastically (at least to me) different.
Just very anxious and would like to see this solved a.s.a.p.
