It was a cool evening of about sixty degrees, a clear star filled skies set the mood over a shimmer bay. Everywhere people rushed back and forth in their daily lives, their tasks mundane and trivial compared to the destiny of two reptilians as their limo pulled up to a resteraunt in the middle of the rich district in town. It was adorned with red banners that hung down over it's massive stone pillars. A red carpet extended from the door as well as several lines of red rope to funnel the crowds. The driver stepped out and quickly trotted to the rear of the limo and opened the door, outward stepped a taloned foot followed by a tall raptor. He looked about as if he were a celebrity fixing his expensive tuxedo before turning around and offering his lady a claw to get out of the car. She was wearing the finest silken dress that despite its extravegence only seemed to accent her fine reptilian curves and features. The lights bustled about them as he took her arm and led her up the carpet to the doorman and bouncer standing in front of the ropes.
"Name sir" the doorman asked.
"Tezztor Ne'taku, and my lady Veira Mistaken. We have reservations" he said beaming her a smile. Despite the glamour and his poise he was extremely nervous.
"Welcome to Devour, the finest resteraunt on the eastern seaboard." he man said unlocking the rope and letting them in. Around them crowds stood in envy hoping that a table or two might not be reserved and they could pay their way in. Upon entering the door they were met by a waiter who led them to their seats. The most luxurious table near a balcony overseeing the moonlit bay.
"Very nice place" Tezztor remarked in awe as he held out her seat. "Here ya go love." he offered with a smile.
"Your being aweful chivalrous tonight" she remarked with curiosity taking the chair allowing him to push her in before he took his own seat. She studied him as he fumbled about, suspecting he was up to something but not completely sure exactly what it was. He grabbed for the menu but in his awkward state he nearly dropped it. He wiped his claw over his face and muzzle nervously, clearly frustrated with his clumsiness.
"What would you like to have for dinner this evening my dear?" he asked as he stared into her beautiful blue orbs, they seemed to shine like jewels within her head.
"My usual if you remember it." she said sharply. "You know your acting very weird tonight." she said with a paused before her face bore a more worried expression. "Wait... your not cheating on me are you? Or worse you are not thinking by buying me a fancy dinner you can soften the blow of breaking up with me" she said as sadness swept over her. Tezztor looked at her shocked, unbelieving of what he was hearing. Quickly he reached across the table and took her claw in his and rubbed it to comfort her.
"Cmon now you know me better then that I would never cheat on you. I love you with all that I am and would never hurt you in such a way. C'mon cheer up this will be a glorious evening" he said softly despite his hissed accent. He smiled at her and signaled the waiter over. "I would like to place our order, for her a calamari with your finest seasoning and a side of steak. For me I want you biggest t-bone steak ultra rare and a side of ribs. Also a bottle of your most well aged wine." he ordered before turning back to her. For the next few minutes a awkward silence lingered between them with little interaction at all. His tapped his claws annoyingly on the table which she promptly grabbed to stop.
" Tezz what is up your worrying me. If something is up just get it out in the open." she said trying to convince him to tell her the problem and find out why he was so noticeably nervous. Tezztor milled about stalling trying to buy time. Suddenly a cart rolled with their food placed upon fancy silvered and golden plates and utensils. "Thank god" he thought.
"Lets eat dinner first alright? Trust me you will love what I have to say after." he said trying to get the focus off his demeanor. She nodded looking a tad bit relieved but he knew this peace would not last. Eating was a chore for him, every bit harder to swallow then the last. He began to feel as if the collar was to tight around his neck and the room was deficient in air to breathe. She on the other hand managed to finish her food without problems and rather quickly too. She was fast and graceful in all that she did, a credit to the grace of dragons. She often reminded him of his mother. After finishing up he placed his claw on hers and with a warm smile he stood up.
"Lets head out to the balcony, enjoy the view a bit hmm?" he said helping her up and leading her out there. As they learned against the rail the wind swept across her dress and through her hair as if prepping her for a photo shoot. She was truly beautiful and elegant. He pointed out features to distract her while his other claw reached into his pocket and grabbed his cell phone, punching in a few numbers to text.
"Whats wrong?" she asked
"Oh nothing, my cell was vibrating I just turned it off is all." he smiled lying. "Hey look" he said with enthusiam trying to direct her view outward over the bay. Suddenly the sky lit up with a massive burst of fireworks in all sorts of romantic reds and pinks. The sparks of light illuminated on her and for a moment in time he was too mesmerized to go through with his plans. She was a angel.
"Isn't it beautiful" she said as her orbs raced back and forth amongst the explosions of sparkle. "Did you do this?" he asked turning back to him just as he dropped to a knee and pulled out a little box. He opened it revealing a expensive and intricate set of diamonds in formation to look like two serpents in the shape of a heart. She gasped as if the wind had been knocked out of her, struggling to breathe.
"My love, you are that which binds my soul. My very destiny in life gives sway to your needs. Would you honor me by being my mate?" he asked sincerely, his face adopting a extremely nervous look as he waited for her to give him an answer. The time around them seemed to freeze to a halt, the fireworks stopping midair and the sounds around them dulling as if they were in space.
"Y..yes" she managed smiling down at him through the tears of joy. He smiled back trying to hold back his own as he slipped the ring on her finger and stood up. He took her in his arms and kissed her passionately as onlookers clapped and the fireworks boomed behind them creating a loving silhoutte.
"I will be there for you forever, by life, love and my own blood. My soul shall forever heed your song." he smiled and looked over in time to see the final firework go off in the shape of a giant red heart. "Good timing" he joked as he held her close.
