Visit OOC before posting. This first post is the only time I will godmod your characters and say where they are and what they're doing. I just want everyone to start in pretty much the same room so that interaction can start right away. Remember, it is important that you read through everyone's post made here thouroughly so you know what's going on.
It was a fine Saturday afternoon...Outside the Asylum, the soft murmur of noise could be heard, the rhythm of cosmopolitan New Yorker life carried in the breeze. The Asylum itself was a sturdy thing, white bricks, four stories high, of modern Gothic make --- curved lines and bright black trim. It was situated almost innocently on the edge of the city, between a subway station and a suburban district. Anyone would have to wonder how such an unassuming building could possibly house and contain such dangerous....patients.
At the moment, all but one of the patients of this quaint Asylum were inside, situated in the 'day room,' a place to relax, mingle, eat and discuss. A TV in one corner of the room was playing some family friendly programming while across the room, up and over a sea of soft carpet, bean bag chairs and books was the kitchen, an afternoon snack of sliced apples and cubed cheese prepared on the dining table. The staff always made sure patients ate healthy, though they sometimes slipped and allowed junk food on campus.
The one missing patient would have been with the others in that room but she was....incapacitated. Katie Sprigg, a lass of 19, was serving out her punishment in one of the Asylum's 'quiet rooms.' An hour earlier, when everyone was outside in the back yard for recreation, she had tried to hop the fence and escape. The team of nurses on hand had brought her down just in time, but nonetheless Katie put up such a fight with her biting and scratching and growling that a second team of doctors had to be radioed in just to drag her back inside and administer sedatives --- the auburn-haired grey chinchilla was, indeed, every bit as strong as her muscular body implied!
And now there Katie was, velcroed up in a straight jacket, tipped over in the corner of the padded quiet room, all alone as she slowly came off her sedative. A security camera watched her every potentially dangerous move. Soon enough, one of the main care doctors would come and prod her to apologize for being so reckless. She couldn't care less. This wasn't the first time she had tried to escape. She knew the routine from here. Cakewalk.
Sasha Lachance, on the other hand, was not such a dangerous patient. A brown striped, glasses-wearing lemur of 17, she was often considered to be the silly one. She was well-behaved, and therefore was currently enjoying her afternoon in the day room with the others --- gnawing on a handful of apples and cheese whilst hanging by her tail from an exercise bar that was set up in a doorway. She watched the other patients mill about with interest.
