DUST

Donna buffed. This damned sun was killing her, as usual. She was wondering aimlessly, as usual. She was running low on food, water, and ammunition, as usual.
Well, she actually had three magazines of 9mm, and a bunch of spare rounds lying about. But her pistol clicked whenever she tried to fire it, and she lacked both the skills, and the parts to fix it.
She saw movement out of the corner of her eye. A flash of green. That meant that it was  either a tunnler, or some sort of anthro. She wasn't sure which was worse. She held her lever action carbine tightly in her paws, her head on a swivel. She saw a building up ahead. It was old, pre war. It would do, the door could function as a chokepoint. Or it could be a trap.
She could find a rock. Which would be perfect, if it was tunnelers. They would try and climb up it, and then they would be easy pickings for Donna. But if they had guns, or throwing spears, she would be screwed.
Screw it. She would go for the building.
She sprinted forward, careful not to lift her carbine up from a low ready.
She burst through, with a loud bang. Anyone inside would have heard her. She slammed the door shut behind her, making a quick sweep for hostiles. There were none.
She backed up against the far wall, and waited.
She heard tunnelers outside, she could tell. There were four distinct footsteps, for each distinct "person". Which meant they we're on all fours. Sentiments, in her experience, stood on two legs.
Her rifle was shaking. It always did, when she was about to use it. Killing someone didn't get any easier with time. Facing danger didn't get any easier, either.

It had been sweltering as usual, but it hardly bothered the scavenger – mostly because he'd taken to squatting in an abandoned building for the time being, searching for anything in it that could be of any use while he was there. Whatever the building had been before, it was abandoned now, and so far as he was concerned, it was his. That was until he heard a loud clamor near one of the outside doors.

With a frown, he made his way to a nearby wall, pressing himself against it, hand on his flare gun. It wasn't the best weapon, but it was enough. Enough to scare off tunnelers with good aim, and enough to hinder someone long enough for him to get close enough to do damage. The corvid didn't particularly care for guns... Not before things went to hell for the first time, not now.

Another door slam, and he'd managed to pinpoint where the other could have been – it was the only entrance that wasn't ruined or covered, and the only exit he knew of. “If you're sentient, you better speak up!” He hissed. It probably wasn't the brightest idea to go yelling into the void, but JB wasn't exactly the wisest, nor was he the type to play waiting games. If he was going to take care of business, he was going to lure whatever into where he was waiting.

Across the door where he stood, there were a few wires.

Donna drew in a sharp breath at the sound of the other voice, her tight grip on her Marlin 1894 making her knuckles grow white.
She froze for a momemt, about to call out to the other person, when the door exploded outwards in a shower of splinters, dust, and whatever else had coated the door.
She let out a brief scream, quickly getting a hold of herself, a flurry of .44 magnum bullets screaming forward, pulverizing the head of the first tunneler that dared to cross the door

“Hey! ...HEY! Don't wreck the place!” His voice echoed from where he was and without thinking much on it, he shot forward, leaping over the wires that were across the doorway. The corvid wasn't entirely sure why he was even bothering to attempt to play hero, especially when considering the fact that the other had a gun, but he moved toward where he'd heard the screaming anyway, hoping that whatever it was that was attacking her had either been shot up or injured enough to where he could finish it off.

Bursting into the room, the black bird raised his flare gun, ready to use it should anything come at him – probably cutting a more intimidating figure than he actually was. Before he could even make a glance to the lynx, another tunneler leaped through the door, and without hesitating he squeezed off a shot at the thing, nailing it right in its upper shoulder.

Donna was shouting a stream of curses, a single .44 bullet arcing into the thing's brain, the pasty, greenish-whiteish blood spattering forth.
she worked the lever, sliding in another round, pulling the trigger.
click
Crap...
She looked to her new companion, who was obviously more focused on the tunnelers than her. She honestly would've preferred to meet him with at least one bullet in her chamber. and she didn't know if he noticed the click or not. but he would've definitely noticed the lack of gunfire.
He didn't look like a cannibal, they tended to be pudgy, ad had that sort of glint in their eyes that just lain tipped you off that they were insane.
But she couldn't chance it. She had to run, to loose this guy.
So she scrambled up, running right past him, clipping him in the shoulder. She took turn after turn after turn, her feet thudding loudly behind her.

“Wait!” Mojo squawked, taking off after the woman. Clearly running was the best plan for now, especially given the fact that there was at least two of those things tailing them, but it wasn't wise just taking off without him. Given that he'd been taking residence there for a few days, the place was rigged with all sorts of nasty traps – something he was sure to do before he planned to sleep – the least harmful of which was razor wire across the doorways. “If you don't want to kill yourself in traps, you better wait the **censor** up!” he insisted, even as she attempted to lose him.

He had no idea where she planned to run or if she had even heard him – obviously she couldn't have known that other exits were blocked, but it did little to alleviate his frustration with the whole situation. He only hoped that shot with the flare gun had been enough to at least hinder the creatures behind them in some way or another, if not spook them into running off altogether.

The tunnlers hissed, making various, animaliztic noises at their packmate. He seemed to be on fire.
That only served to delay them, however. No-one could say they weren't persistent.
The lynx heard him, in the technical form of the word, but she didn't, just as technically, listen. She kept running, the bird's words being almost completely ignored. That was, until she was sent careening into thr floor by a piece of razor wire.
Luckily, her thick, padded boots had protected her, for the most part, from the wire. She was left with a smallish, largely superficial scar on her left leg.
She flipped over, fumbling to get a round into her lever-action carbine, just barely managing to slip one in as the bird rounded the corner.

“I told you!” he puffed upon seeing the lynx sprawled on the floor. He paused a moment, fumbling with his flare gun once more to reload it. “You're going to get yourself killed if you don't wait, but we ain't got time for that now, please tell me you're ready to shoot somethin'!” The scavenger took no time to close the distance between the two of them now that she was on the floor, giving a light jump over the wire that had snagged the lynx previously. Reaching down he attempted to help her up, “'Cause truth be told, the other option is to run 'em towards where I was.”

The lynx huffed, working the lever on her carbine "Am now." she said simply, pulling a handful of .44 bullets from her pouch, sliding them in one by one. she had a handful of about 6. which meant she had seven bullets. She would reach into her pouch and fill it again, but she didn't have time.
She would have to trust the raven next to her, for now at least. If he was out to kill her, he wouldn't have warned her of the traps. But it could be him trying to get her to help deal with the tunnelers. So, for now, she chooses begrudging cooperation. let him help, but don't trust him. You can't trust anyone anymore.

The corvid stood beside the lynx, arm straightened with the flare gun in hand just in case he needed to squeeze off another shot – it wasn't a better option than the woman's gun, but it was better than nothing if the tunnelers rounded the corner faster than she could shoot. At the moment he was only thankful that there were only two of the things as opposed to the original four. “C'mon, c'mon, c'mon,” he muttered impatiently, stepping back, closer to the walls. He wasn't too fond of relying on another person at the moment, but she was the one that had lead the things here to begin with, “You gonna lead those things in here, you're gonna help me get rid of 'em.” He huffed, not that she had much of a choice at this point.

The lynx sat on the floor, elbows resting on her knees, to provide a better firing position. As the two green, scaly humanoids rounded the corner, she loosed a single shot.
It hit. The thing wheeled backwards making noises that sounded akin to a wounded lizard. It's comrade tried to close the gap while Donna worked the lever, but, it didn't get very far before it had a new hole in its head.
Donna fired one more shot into wounded one, quite abruptly ending its existence.

JB gave a small smirk – at least as best as he could manage for the time being when the two  creatures went down. Granted he'd have preferred none of this happen, but at least it had turned to be in his favor in that the tunnelers had been taken down, which left one thing to be dealt with – the lynx. Before the woman could get a word in edgewise, the raven swept down behind her, pointing the flare gun beneath her chin. He had no intents to use the thing, but the function was to intimidate; a flare to the face was not a pleasant affair, even if it wasn't lethal. He had no idea why she'd barged into the building – tunnelers be damned – and had no interest in getting into a scuffle with her over the resources he had managed to gather for himself.

“Now look miss,” he began, sure to make the gun's presence known, “I don't know much about you, nor do I know what you're here for, but you're gonna have to give me some indication that if I let go o' you, you're not gonna fill me with holes with that gun you got there.” He tilted his head, getting a better look at her as he spoke, “'Cause so far given your track record of listenin' to me, I'm not so sure your first inclination's gonna be to drop your gun.” For a moment, he tightened his grip on her, just to show he meant his words. “I'm not interested in fighting you, but if I have to choose your hide or mine, I can tell you who I'm gonna pick every time.”

Masika trudged beside a old, warehouse looking building. Once hearing numerous gunshots and the voices of two people she quietly inched towards the building and looked inside. As she listened to the of the new found creature's conversation, keeping silent as possible, she noticed a pile of scaly bodies and shivered a little before looking back at them.
