June 6, 1944. D-Day

(anyone can join, you can be a pilot, soldier or a tank driver, I can't use Wolfgang because it is german, so my name is Tom)

Here's how the story begins

Tom was getting into the higgins boat as he lit a cigarette, he carried a M1 Garand in his hands as he sat down in the boat and waited for it to be lowered. "You ready buddy" said Joe. Joe was his best friend, they met at boot camp back in the states and were from the same town. Tom and Joe were both 18 years old and just arrived at Britain a few months ago. "I'm ready." said Tom as the Higgins boat began to lower into the water. Tom was lucky not be sent of to the pacific, he had heard stories from other soldiers at basecamp about what was going on. He inhaled on his cigarette and exhaled out his nose. The Higgins boat started to lurch forward and Tom sat quietly and looked around, some of these soldiers were not going to make it home alive, Tom hoped he wasn't going to be one of them.

The lieutenant leans on the side of the higgins boat, watching the soldiers climb in, his grease gun hanging over his shoulder. He was fresh out of officers training, and his briefing had been pretty vague. Secure the beach, regroup, move on. "Alright boys, pile in." His boat was ahead of Tom and Joe, and should be hitting the beachhead first. A handful of his squad smoked, and the tips of the cigarettes glowed softly in the gloom.

Tom watched as the hawker typhoons fighters roared overhead. The soldiers in the boat were quiet as their superior briefed them on the mission, they were going to hit Omaha beach in 10 minutes. "listen to those planes roar." said Joe.

Name: Pvt. Greg "Smitty" Smith
Faction: US 82nd Airborne Division

Greg was looking out of the window of the aircraft he was on, his division was to go behind the enemy lines. He wasn't to sure about it but it was his duty to.  He was never trained to get shot at while jumping out of the planes.  As the flak started showing up he decided to back up from the window.

Mausers, MG-42 nests, aircraft machineguns, 88's, and those fancy automatic rifles he had been hearing about. The Lieutenant heard them all even over the sound of the engines as the higgins boats lurched through the choppy seas. The blunt smell of diesel clashed with the sharper fragrance of gun smoke, and both fought for supremacy over the smell of the seawater. A handful of his squad stood ready, eyes fixed on the door ahead of them. The rest seemed to be fighting to keep whatever lunch they had scraped up on the ship. The lieutenant checked his clip for the tenth time since the boat had started moving.

Name: Pvt. Steven "Brains" Higgins
Devision: Easy Company

The rocking of the boat was beginning to irritate him, he'd been under this jeep for an hour now slowly repairing it's engine the rocking of the waves making his board and tool box slide up and down the deck. "I can't wait 'till we have this beach and I can get a fairly good repair station..." he thought aloud. He flinched as his toolbox slid into his head knocking tools everywhere.. "Ow..." he slowly rolled out from under the jeep rubbing his head, a sergeant walked up to him. "We'll be hitting the beach in a few, get your gear ready." "Yes Sir!" I said and grabbed my Garand checking the clip
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died

name: Sgt. Wred Fawks 101st airborne
devision: "Pathfinders"

Wred looked about, he couldn't see anything but farm land and a few trees. He's still got to find the rest of his platoon, the dc-3s having scattered all the sticks into the wind. He hears a chirping. "Thunder." He says, a little too loud. "Lightning." A voice echoes.
"That you, Commander McAuliffe?"

As Greg started to relax the plane shook violently and lurched.  "Crud! We are hit! We can't jump now! We are way off target!" The seargant said "If we don't we will die!" several of the other member responded.  Just then the plane lurched again, Greg looked towards cockpit and seen that the pilot and the cockpit was hit by a burst of flak, it was a gruesome sight. The plane lurched forward and the seargant decided to give the greenlight to go.  Greg jumped from the plane and blacked out mid flight.

Tom was starting to get seasick as the boat rock in the rough water. He looked out the side of the boat and could see the shoreline starting to come into view. "5 minutes to the beach squad." said the colonel.

A sudden blast rocked the Lieutenants boat, and a spray of seawater came over one side. "Artillery!" Some of the squad ducked, others grabbed at the side of the boat. "It's long-range, nothing to worry about! No way they'll hit us!" As if on cue another explosion rocked the boat, but this one was different. This one brought screams, and it was louder. That shell did not land in the water. "Hold her steady! Full speed!"

"Wha...where the heck am I" Greg said as he woke, "Oh I am in a tree...not the best landing spot..."  He cut the ropes and landed on his feet, brandishing his standard issue m1 garand.  "Wonder if I can find the rest of my group..." He said as he looked around.

Shells started rained down, his boat getting swamped with water. "3 minutes to the beach!" yelled the driver. Tom loaded his Garand and prepared himself for when the boat hit the beach.

The Higgins boat managed to avoid the mines, but the pinging of machine gun rounds bouncing off the door was unsettling at least. The door dropped. "Move, move, mo-" An artillery shell struck beside the boat, knocking it onto its side farther back into the water. The lieutenant came to laying in the boat, coughing up seawater and trying to find his grease gun. Bullets and shells rained, and somewhere he thought he heard a plane. In the thick gray fog over over the water higgins boats appeared to drift toward the beach like ghosts. "Re... Regrou... Charlie squad, regroup!"

Tom's boat finally hit the beach and the door dropped. "GO GO GO!" yelled the colonel. Tom and Joe ran out of the boat and ran towards the shoreline screaming. Suddenly an MG-42 opened fire on them. Tom took a bullet in the arm but kept going, he took cover in a crater from a shell and fired on some soldiers on the cliffside.

Greg pulled down his parachute when he heard German talk just over on the next block.  "I got to think fast...no doubt thats a few scouts to find the paratroopers...I know!" Greg said as he layed down and placed the parachute over him. He had hoped the Germans would think he had died before landing, he slowed his breath and layed still.  The Germans spoke some, Greg understood some of this due to him taking a German class in college before joining the war. No doubt were they checking if the paratroopers were alive.
