Jovri sat still in his seat and stared out the window of his carriage with a nervous pounding heart. Every part of his body screamed that he was not ready for this meeting. He had traveled for so many hours, failed to get even a somewhat decent amount of sleep, and he had far too much in his head to allow himself to enjoy the scenery like he normally would. This was all far too soon for him. He never wanted to be in this position, but he had no choice. Every able heir had been assassinated or perished in some sort of "accident", all in such a painful short time. His entire family was ripped away from him, and the damned officials couldn't give him time to recover. Chances are most people thought he was to blame for these tragedies. He almost hoped he was next on the death list to prove them wrong. It was better than making a fool of himself and running his own country into the ground.
The salamander next to Jovri, Adari, gave him a pat on the shoulder. "We're here," she told him in Burrkali.
Jovri nodded and swallowed hard. The carriage stopped, and the young bear stepped a hesitant foot out. His body wobbled and shook as he walked to the hall, Adari by his side with her hand resting on his back. Adari was his guide, helping him until he got the hang of his role. He was extremely thankful.
