this idea is one of my oldest and favourite roleplays. I don't want any character sheets, so long as you put enough detail in your first post(s) that describes your character's age/gender/name/equipment/ect. This is set in the typical fantasy world, with swords and magic and mythical creatures and the like. It is mostly character v enviroment, though if you wish to fight with another contestant, you can. All the basic rules apply - no automatically hitting/killing another player, be kind and courtious to fellow players, do not take IC disputes OOC and OOC disputes IC, ect, ect.
Without further ado, here is the plot:
The musty, sickening stench of death fills the air, the dusty floor permanently stained with the blood of Centuries of fighting. The darkness is suffocating - then suddenly, there is a strong blast of white light, and the first thing you hear is that defeaning chanting and cheering from the crowd. This sound defines the very essence of The Arena. That, and the sound of metal cutting flesh....
It was a dangerous game. As your eyes ajust to the bright light, you see people, flocking in their millions, watching you from the safety of the seating area. The Arena, as it was called, was a game in which contestants tried to cheat death, in order to win amounts of money that could never be counted in a lifetime.
Nobody has ever gotten out alive. Within the labyrinth of corridors, chambers and rooms, are thousands of dark creatures, traps and deceptions, things hell-bent on destroying you. Plus, the deeper you went - you were meant to get to the bottom level and retrieve a valuable object (though you would have to work out what the object you were meant to collect was, using knowledge you pick up from the Arena, and also the clue you are given at the start - and if you picked the wrong object, you would die instantly by some horrid means.) the more evil the game became.
Each contestant starts at a diffrent gate, (meaning some contestants may never meet, others might find each other quickly, others may meet up later on. There may even be some contestants from previous games, wandering the labyrinth in endless search for an exit, that simply no longer exists for them.) aiming to discover what object they need, get to the bottom floor, retrive it, then return to their gate, get out and collect their prize -however, above all, what was the real aim of the game? That, was to survive.
..but what the contestants and crowd don't know, is that there's a dark secret hidden behind the arena - Is it really a game? or is it, that those valuable objects may actually be more valuable then the seem.... and somebody, somewhere, wants them for themselves - wants them enough to send thousands of people to their deaths, in search of a group of people who might, just, survive...
so, any interest? I'm going to put the IC up tommorrow, as i don't really have time today, but it means you have a chance to think about what sort of character your furre shall be ^-^
