((....Prepare for a bit - okay, a LOT - of reading ahead....Sorry I wrote so much but I felt I needed to.....
I needed another one to make up for my two that are in the operating room right now....You see, what I have to do with OPR and HIM is I have to write something very long in order to bring all the characters back together. I am capable of it, believe it or not, and, also believe it or not, I am very close to doing so and revamping them, hopefully bringing back old and fave players in the process. I realized something very true in the RP world, and that is you need to take what you do very seriously, but you also need to take your time and not rush and get caught up in things you just can't do. So if everyone is patient with me and has some faith, I believe I will be capable of handling all four of these roleplays in a good manner. But it just takes time. I am recently pulling myself out of a deep clinical depression, and that may have something to do with all this failure, but I won't use that as an excuse to not work and get the job done.
So yes. Another, deeper, more philosophical, more angsty, modern RP to run alongside my more generic fairy-tale like one. For anyone who is annoyed at my seeming failure with roleplays, I must apologize. And I must also say that while I could work a bit harder, it's also not all my fault. In reality, I love roleplaying and I love weaving stories. I adore it. These things are, like, the third most important thing in my life to me, second only to the bare essentials and my beloved boyfriend.
As you can see...I take my roleplays to heart. They also tend to have a major influence on my novels, making them practically a must-do thing for my career. If only I could be on more, I would post so much more often, please understand that....
Now it's time for me to shut it and get on with this one, one that you can see I'm very heartfelt on....because it derives directly from a novel that I am writing. Possibly the best novel I've ever attempted and the one that takes up the most space on my comp's hard drive. And as wild as it is to believe, I'm 20,000 words into this novel and plan to finish it by the end of the year, and publish it within two years after that. (Yes, Sasha's dream career is starving novelist.) So, if only one or two people join this, that's fine. I don't mind. All I want with this is to weave a story, as is the case with everything else I do. Take note that this will be
slightly similar to Dean Koontz's
Watchers and Justin Cronin's
The Passage, so if you're familiar with those novels then what's going on here should be easy to follow. If not, then I hope my terrible summarizing skills suffice. Oh yeah...this novel was where I originally got the idea for my char Mondenkind, and where I fell in love with her, since as you can see her story is bar none almost the same to that in OPR...but I'll be careful not to Mary Screw this up- get the Mary Sue joke? Ha haha ha....nevermind....T.T...))

Year: 2014The government always seems to be up to something, don't they? They always seem to be hiding things, and, even worse, they're very cocky about themselves, thinking that yes, they do know what they're doing, and yes, everything is going to be fine and peaceful all across the world. Only their latest ambitions seem to be far from peaceful. A government cooperation known only as, strangely (considering the civilian counterpart), the PTA, has been working on two 'special' projects for many, many years now.
Working in conjunction with the Air Force, the team has set to making what they call 'Ravens,' enormous, mechanical, seemingly demonic birds with the ability to rip the earth to shreds...literally. As one would rip flesh from bone, these terrible robotic creatures do so rip the earth's crust from the mantle, crumbling it to bits and without question killing anyone who just happens to be under their talons. Of course, as is with all government projects, it has not been implemented (there hasn't been a need to, as there is no war in the world...yet), and it has been kept completely secret...Security surrounding the Ravens has been top notch, even more intense than the direct head-shot you'd get trying to sneak onto Area 51.
Their other project...more biotic and less mechanic, has been (just as great science fiction writers have feared) screwing with the genetic code of life. But doing so is difficult, and getting the malicious results they want is even harder. Only one of their many subjects for this project seems to have pulled through with great success (and abeilt
alive), an apparently indestructible six-year-old child whom they named Mondenkind, or Moonchild in English, after the German tale Die unendliche Geschichte- The Neverending Story. She seems to have other powers as well, but it is difficult to bring them out into the open, not to mention she's not too keen on admitting she has them.
In this story, you will play as two different characters: one will be an unawares Air Force recruit, stationed at the base where all of this is going down....Violet Lake. As a recruit, you will go through the motions while, along the way, uncovering many secrets about the government you wish you did not know. It will be a journey inside yourself as well, for you will be tested to your mental breaking point...Will you go along with what you find, even climbing the ranks to join the PTA and their world-changing ambitions yourself? Or will you be appalled at what you see and decide to completely desert the military, putting a fair price on your head in the process? Or.......do you have your
own motives and dreams?
The other character you will play is one of the government's 'subjects,' an unwitting fur or human locked away deep inside the recesses of this base. You may have been born into it, or you may have been kidnapped and brought in as of recently. You may not be as big of a success as that one child but it does look like you have budding powers of your own, be they small. In the end, it's fair to say revenge for what's been done to you weighs heavy on your heart and mind....if not that, escape is at the least a high priority. Unless you like being experimented on and held in captivity...or unless you'd be willing to
join your captors? (Who does that, you weirdo?)
The ultimate goal in this is to find out just what exactly the PTA wants and either put a stop to them or help them succeed....why do they think they need to change the world so drastically? Are they after world domination or world peace? What in the heck has become of our beloved government anyway? The way the story ends is up to you, the players.
Rules/InfoOkay. Pretty much the same rules I have in all my others. No godmodding/powerplaying, play fair, let others catch up, blah blah blah. There will be a one-week timer set for when you're allowed to post. If you do not post within a week of your last post, I WILL give a strike! (Look out, mean Sasha coming your way...) Three strikes and I boot. That said, if you give me a reason for not posting in advance...(i.e. you're going on vacation or you're entering into clinical depression yourself- though I refuse to use that as an excuse personally)...I'll consider letting you slide. And though I wrote enough here to make a small book, I'm not too strict on things. I want this to be about you guys and what you want. I want you guys to take the story where you want it to go.
* The jist of the story will take place in the Utah desert, where Violet Lake is stationed. For references, it's as easy as searching for 'utah desert' on google images. However, it can travel elsewhere. In fact, we probably will be forced to travel anyway!
* This base, on the surface, looks like any other Air Force base...you've got your runways, your big, windowless buildings, your bunkers and lodging, your lake (that's what the base is named after), your sandy dunes and cliffs.........your underground tunnels.......hold on, wait a second,...where do
those lead anyway?
* The base is highly secure, as I said. To get to it, you have to literally drive off the freeway and over a ditch to get to the start of the road. (It's Jeep time.) It takes about two hours of driving down a dirt road to get to it, not minding the thorough checkpoints along the way. There's overhead watches and armed security stationed in the hills....this security has been told to arrest any trespassers, and if that trespasser refuses to cooperate from afar, they are told it's fine to shoot to kill. This is Area 51...with style.
* For recruits: keep in mind that you are newly listed. You can be excellent at shooting, at combat and whatnot, but you shouldn't be an expert if you're just starting out in the military. Also, you have what supplies the military has given you...nothing more except for a few personal belongings.
* For subjects: While I try not to make Moon a Mary Sue (I even did a test that proved she was the opposite, so I think she's fine), you still cannot upstand or outstage her..... You also cannot have the same power she does...what is obvious. You may be able to kick her butt or even kill her if she turns out to be evil later, but for now this kid is the freaking Holy Grail. Being the Holy Grail isn't always glamor though, so...you know how it goes.........Also, feel free to be creative with your powers! It's always nice to see a power that is teh awesome and that is creative and new.
* Eventually, (when we reach a far enough point)...I am going to release the hounds...that is, the Ravens, to wreak havoc on the Earth and at that point everything will become clear...And when that happens you'll know we're reaching the climax. Sp, best prepare yourself for that moment and be cautious.
