Senario:
We thought the world we'd lived in would last forever. We thought nothing could hurt us, that we were superior to everything.
We were wrong.
The first thing to happen was the global temperature spike. The pollution had warmed the air to the highest average in centuries. Many places around the world, from the arctic circle to the antarctic circle, never experienced anything lower than 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Previously tropical or subtropical areas were reduced to deserts or were otherwise uninhabitable. Polar regions were nearly devoid of ice, and Antarctica was being colonized as fast as possible.
Crops not accustomed to the heat died out, letting other plants evolve and take over. A similar situation plagued Furries, those with thick fur started dying out, overwhelmed and overheated. Only the strongest, most adaptable furries survived well. Humans on the other hand thrived. The population soared. Feral animals had been effectively wiped out for the most part, save for those in zoos.
Because of the climate change, many people saw no reason to have heating in the buildings anymore, only air conditioning. They had only enough insulation to keep cold air in and no clothes to stave off the cold. The remaining few lived in the still mild places of the world, such as those closest to the South Pole.
The temperatures and population density were perfect for a dangerous threat however. Plague. Disease spread rapidly through the new cities and town, unhindered by any medicines. Around two billion people died, just in the first two years. Animals, domestic and zoo held, died by the thousands every day. Certain plagues even effected crops, killing many of those and causing intense famine.
This was only the beginning.
Not two years later, Yellowstone's super volcano erupted with more ferocity than any other time in history. Ash and soot covered North America a mile thick and clogged up the atmosphere, blocking the sun and moon, the stars, and heat from escaping.
Or getting through.
Within weeks, crops had withered. People, sick and healthy, were getting sick from it. Temperatures were cooling rapidly around the world. People had to resort to low tactics, first killing what animals they could then stealing others' animals and food. People abandoned morals to feed their families, stealing from friends, neighbors, and everything in between. They ate what wild food they could find, often eating toxic plants by accident. Finally, when food ran out, many stooped even lower.
Murder and cannibalism.
No one was safe. The dead were first, then the weak and dying. The children were only after those ran out after a few weeks. No species was safe, furry or human.
Now, a year after the events of above, life has gotten infinitely harder. Only the strong survive. The question is, how strong are you?
Oh, and who am I? I'm just an unfortunate soul stuck as a ghost. I was the first victim of cannibalism. I'll help people from time to time, but only the strongest ones. And my help may be good for you, but those around you should watch out. I'm not always nice.
