Kids movies that aren't for kids
« on: March 25, 2012, 11:34:25 PM »
Have you ever seen a kids movie that went a tad bit too far. Here is a place to discuss sed movies.
Alpha and omega have hidden messages of a sexual nature
Over the hedge introduces children to anti-capitalism
Toy story 3 had hidden messages of a political nature
Those were some examples, see if you can come up with any

The first Lord of the Rings movie where Frodo shows the ring to Bilbo Baggins ;A;

I have to agree with Scar on those two Tim Burton movies as well as the horrific close call in that Toy Story movie.

Felidae

And I would also like to add that Alfa and Omega was a terrible movie, I hate when people try to act like its good just because it has wolves.

"Tangled".  Is a total S&M dominatrix movie
On the flip side there are kids movies that do an excellent job at including entertaining dialog that adults can laugh at that kids totally will miss without affecting the experience for either.  Shreck movies are a great example.   excellent screenwriting.

Event horizon. though its not a kids movie its the type of movies my older bro made me watch when I was young to be honest I barely ever saw an actual "kids" movie, but I did see alpha and omega and tht was a piece of crap :/
Our mere existence is enough reason to carry on. Never let others steal your lust for life. Life is all you have and it is all you will get. Cling to it until the universe says it's time to let go. Then rest, only then have you earned it.

Do TV shows count, because if so I'm nominating the national geographic show "I was bitten".

It is rated PG13 and shows, without any form of censorship, graphic images such as (and not limited to).

Thaaat..would be above a PG13 I'd say. >>

There was a show I used to adore called Animals of Farthing Wood. I didn't think much of it as a kid but I looked back and it's pretty brutal.

Example:
Two pheasants are a couple and bicker all the time. Unfortunately the girl gets shot and literally cooked into a pie, the pie is put on the window shelf and her feet are near the pie. The boy pheasant starts crying and flies in a frenzy, getting shot as well.

Field mice have babies, babies are butchered by a bird. the bird impales them on a thorn bush. It is shown.

Hedgehogs get run over

Baby fox gets killed by a fox of another territory

I guess as kids we can take death a little easy? I dunno.
