Platform Fighters! ("Smash Bros. type" games)
« on: August 30, 2018, 08:15:18 PM »
I've been wondering if anyone on this forum plays platform fighters competitively.

My favorite is definitely Rivals of Aether. It kind of feels like a competitively-oriented SSBM, but with no shield or grab, being replaced with a parrying system. When one player parries another player's attack successfully, the attacking player is stunned so that the defending player can get a follow-up. There's a lot of other intricacies, but that's the biggest difference (aside from the aesthetic choices and the fact that Rivals has a much more balanced roster. . . no Fox McClouds, Meta Knights or Bayonettas here!)
"and maybe we weren't put on this earth to rape and pillage and ravage
because god created puppy dogs and god created kittens
and our love creates a power plant
that generates this world
and if we stop now
then we'll just disappear into oblivion"
