Religious whatnot and technological tragedy.
« on: March 08, 2011, 11:11:44 PM »
Ok may I just say two things?
First off: I'm going on a fast (which, in layman's terms means no solids may enter my body for forty days, which also passes through my birthday... So no cake for me). Not because I want too, not because I'm religious, but BECAUSE MY FAMILY IS. Gah... And the last member of my family who admitted to being A-thiestical was so thouroughly rejected from our little clan (by everyone but me, because apparently I have some sense) that she repented. Repented. Not only that but a buddy of mine happens to be an Arab, so what, eh? Wrong. As it turns out my mother is a crazy, racial-profiling she-bat.

Now, bringing the issue back to my family from a different point of view. Ok so the aforementioned shebat has been systematically eliminating various sources of electronic communication in my house for some time now. It started with the internet (Then moved on to my phone, etc). 'Aight. I figured I was being forced into some ultra-religious cult. NO. As it turns out, its because "technology allows you to be in tune with all of that satanic furry ****"
Well thats nice, innit? I hate to use this word (I really do) but theres really only one that can sum that up... And I can't say it here ;P If it werent for my school (which, by the way, is a religious school chock-full of pastors) having a public terminal, you'd probably see me on America's Most Wanted for a quadruple-homicide. Yaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy... Blech.

The moving out bit is fine and all, but I need them D: I've been conditioning myself all my life to get into MIT, and hell if I can't pay the tuition... So I have to deal with them for some time...

religion ruins a lot of things but you can't do anything about it as long as you're under your mom's roof. she pretty much has the right to indoctrinate you to believe in whatever nonsense she wants you to :/

well if you really need your family then i can only suggest buying your own phone and your own internet, which she would have no right to take away. get a job for this....if getting a job is allowed!

good gods  christian whackos like this get under my skin.

and she also has NO RIGHT to force you into a fast....this could be called child abuse for starvation! and if you still want to pretend to fast for her, then eat while you're away from home and sneak in food to your room.

i recently have had my own problems....my family stumbled opon some of my 'documents' and found out i was a practicing satanist. they took away my internet on my phone (they like your family have been helping me since im broke) and said i would need to pay for it myself if i wanted internet to look at my satanist sites. my dad even went so far to say that if i wasn't going to repent, and was going to keep being a satanist then i would be turning my back on him and it would be like i killed someone in his eyes. it isn't too bad right now since i did agree to pay my own internet, but they are the only two that know....if this leeked to the rest of my family i would instantly become a black sheep.

so just try and push through it i guess :3 i and others are here for you

satanist as in worship of satan? or what? because there's a version of satanism that used to exist but then the Church made it sound all bad in a smear campaign. whichever's cool
*squees because he remembered that fact from a Dan Brown book*

Im probably the least religious christian youll meet... I listen to Eminem, Slipknot, and watch anime... and my teacher still calls me evil. Do I listen to him? No, because I may be religious, but it shouldnt control anyone's lives to THAT extent  :/

well that's what religion does. people follow it with good in their hearts a lot of the time but there still is the man who said "the poor regard religion as true, the wise regard it as false, and the rulers regard it as useful."

well there is laveyan satanism which does not believe in satan as a real being you do not worship satan with this one you worship yourself.

and there is jos satanism with it's intense christianity conspiracy therories and alien ideas about outer space. these guys worship satan as the real creator and think christian leaders invented a false god to hide the fact that satan is the real creator and the real one betrayed by evil peers. while a lot of their theories are sound with me sometimes they can become a bit too cultish and radical for me to join.

and then there is me. i worship satan (enki) in my own way, believing only what i want about him. i believe he is very real, in fact i know since one of his demons came to me and possessed my heart and opened my eyes to the truth.

of course this is just my opinions i force nothing on anyone. but most satanists follow no cult, they follow their own path and destiny.

im sorry for going way off topic but i was asked my breed of satanism and needed to defend with solid information.

To be honest, I'm atheist. I was raised as a Christian when I was a child but moving up to my teenager life I'm now an atheist. And no, not an atheist in like worship Satan, just no religion basically, this gives me so much freedom I think. I totally understand other people's beliefs but all the mess that some religions have created and all the dilemma... I think it's better for me to stay neutral and not live my life how ever I want.

Same here, although "Christian" isn't really a proper term for me to an extent. I guess the best way to summarize my religion is "Pluralist"

Back to topic; religious bigotry is just about the thing I loathe most in this world. I really dislike "Organized" forms of religions, when you try to standardize a belief you ruin it. I could properly explain this but then it'd turn into my rant.
But this is really twisted what religion can do. It makes people xenophobic in every way. As you said; you family hates other religions and races associated with it. And then they go to such great lengths to impose it upon everyone else. If I where you I'd probably come home one day with a pentagram and an upside down cross (both of which are signs of my belief; they're also not symbols of satanism, I just figured your parents would think that and freak.) Not sure if I recommend that, especially since they might stone you or something.
Maybe you can just spend time out of the house? If you stay at a friends house or in public places then you don't need to fast or listen to your family's crap. And if you're at a friends house you could probably use internet and such.
