How to Draw/Create a Fursona?
« on: July 21, 2015, 02:24:15 AM »
Hello artists!

I'd love to fill up my profile with art and really develop my skills. But I'm just not the best at this kinda thing. I can draw decently, but I'd rather go digital so I can add bright colors and details easily. I've tried taking a picture of my sketches and editing the photo but that's not working very well. I guess what I'm really asking here is: Is there a better way of doing this? Like a program or a some advice on coloring and detail adding?

Finally: here's some of my stuff. (I already know it's not perfect, so say whatever you feel like.)

I'd use printer paper to eliminate the blue lines found on common stationary. GIMP is a good PhotoShop-esque program that can be used to alter images, although it has some issues when it comes to tablet configuration. However, since you do physical illustration as opposed to digital, that should not be a concern for you.

Hello good sir.
Hollow is on the right track; if you use printer paper, it's very easy. But if I may give some other background info.
I'm a traditional artist who recently got a tablet. One thing I should point out is if you spend time developing skills traditionally (on paper with pen and pencil) youll have an easier time using drawing programs.
I use Krita, because it is free and works really well. But sometimes, since I'm not yet used to the controls, I end up enlarging the drawing and bad stuff happens. Krita requires a tablet of some kind.
But please don't take it the wrong way, I'm making a few suggestions. From my own experiences. It really helps in the long run.

Whatever you chose to do, I'm happy for your choice!

Happy Trails!~

Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to try the stuff you've suggested. One last question. How's my art? I know it doesn't compare to the other stuff people make, but is it close?

You're on the right track. I would recommend buying a sketch book and a set of pencils.
Keep drawing and look at others work so you can see what they do.
If you want to take it seriously then watch streams.

Thank you. That sounds like a good idea. I'll be sure to try those things out when I get the chance.
