I don't know if I'm the one being awkward...
« on: May 24, 2016, 12:19:04 AM »
So basically my friends were looking at half naked girls in a library. (And I was rubbing my temples I swear.) I'm the type of person that's uncomfortable with half naked people. So I was wondering if I am weird for avoiding this kind of stuff as a guy. Or is it rude to be, admiring half naked woman, so openly. I mean, I'm trying my best to be noble and gentlemen like, but maybe I was over reacting about it. I mean maybe it's just a guy's thing. But... I'm not sure if I should've played along and admired, or sat there and said, 'guys seriously... We're in a library'.
(Sorry I apologize for the weird topic, I just really have no idea what is the best reaction in that situation.)

Not at all Exo. I guess towards other guys they may find it odd. Besides I've met a lot of guys like that and In my opinion find it to be sweet, also it shows your mature. I would be slightly uncomfortable seeing that in public, and probably avoid them. I mean at least they could've been somewhere private, but a library? Honestly that's a bit odd?
I'm in high school and half of the time guys are do things like that. I guess that's just hormones maybe?
Anyways It's definitely not weird so don't worry about it, in my opinion I think it's a good thing.

I'm the same way, honestly.  (so perhaps I won't have an objective view on this)

In a show of annoying middle-of-the-road ness, I don't see either behavior as weird. I see it as personal preference. If they wanna look at half naked girls, have at it. But if that's not your thing, it's fine. I will say that a library is an odd place to oggle half naked people. And I wouldn't call what they do as a guy thing. Everyone has different tastes.

And if something makes you uncomfortable, don't play along. Ever. I say this from personal experience (:
Always be you, even if it's counter to what people around you are doing (Unless you're a serial killer. Then don't be you.)
The best reaction would be whatever base reaction you had to it. If it's how you feel, roll with it all the way down town, brother.
(Really? A library? Whatever...) :P

However I'm use to it since I'm in high school and half of the time guys are do things like that. I guess that's just hormones maybe? Sometimes it makes guys go wild, some with brush it off and act mature. It's just how things are.

Yeah, high school hormones screw with you pretty hard. It's really bloody obnoxious.

Do whatever you feel like doing. It's only awkward if you make it awkward.

Your friends have their own preferences and maturity, you do not have to conform to them just to feel included.

I wouldn't go as far as talking them down for it but I would simply ignore it and continue what I'm doing or find something else to look at/do.

In my personal experience, me (and friends of mine) prefer gentlemen x3
I find it a bit rude indeed, the whole staring/gaping thing. I don't think it's necessarily weird, just a thing some people do and other don't. Some people do that stuff 'naturally', others get it from learning from other people's behaviour, etc. Just react how you feel most suits you. Don't play along because others do, and don't act like a gentleman if that's not your thing. (But as I understand this last one is the case.)
Do what feels right to you.
I do find it rather neat you ask about this thing, wondering what would be the best to do in the situation. I hope my message helped in some way :)

And I think Spike worded it nicely:
Your friends have their own preferences and maturity
