This isn't right.
« on: June 09, 2009, 05:43:36 PM »
I was walking home from school today, quite late.
I had a dentention. T____T;; !

And there was this little girl, and her mother was chatting away on the phone.
There was this car heading her way, and I ran across and took her to the end of the road. And my schoolbag died along the way. T___T;;
And the mother didn't even notice until I called her to tell her that her daughter nearly ran infront of a busy road.
She was like, "Oh I didn't know". -___-' A caring mother would've stopped her children running too far and keep her close to her.

Rant over. D:
It's just people like these really annoy me. D:> !

People like that annoy me too. And she would've felt terrible if her daughter had been hit, or at least, that's the way you would think she should feel if it happened.
It's kind of like when we were having a family get together at my house and my cousin's son was aloud to just wander around our yard (she basically expects others to watch her children for her when she at those kind of things). And he was trying to play around with me so I was standing on the part of my porch by the sunroom and he ran over to the steps by the front door and I yelled, "Dominic, come back here!" and he giggled and he ran down the steps and down the driveway to the road. So I had to quickly run after him and grab him out of the road. Luckily, the only car that went by at that moment went by before he got in the road, and my neighbor across the road's son was just starting to back out of the end of their driveway when I picked the kid up. And that cousin has four kids ((almost all are a year apart except for the oldest who is her only daughter (now in kindergarten) and the second oldest which is the kid I chased)).
Needless to say, that woman is my visual birth control (seeing what she has to deal with all the time makes me not want to have kids even more than usual).

I think that if you choose to have kids, then you should, you know, take care of them. I hate parents who either think their child is a speshul snowflake who can do whatever the crap they want or who never watch them- and then get surprised when the child gets hurt. Reality check: just because it crawled out of your uterus does not make it invincible.

Well, apparently being on the cellphone makes you care less about whats going on around you, so she probably didn't notice her child walking off, or it just didn't register that her child is in danger. Still, really stupid of her to put a phone call that can be done later in front of the child's own well-bieng.

To me, it is the parents without the situational awareness or the desire to care for their children that not only surprises me, but outright disgusts me. These are rules I have to reiterate to myself before I do anything:

One, if you must talk on a cellphone, do not drive and do not walk (even if using hands-free devices). Two, if you have children with you, keep a hold of them (direct physical contact preferred). Lastly, know where you are going, even if not on the cellphone.

I agree with Vosur.
People like this really do make me lose faith in modern society, as if my faith wasn't already near non-existant. :umm:
