Fursuit Care Tips
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:59:58 AM »
Hey yall, I just got my fursuit at FWA. Its Gorgeous! I wanna put it on for Photos, but I also need to wash it.
I have access to a Tumble Washer. I was told I can wash it in that, but I don't know what type of soap I should with it. I know to hang dry it.

So curious, what do I use, and/or what do you recommend?
How do you wash Feet Paws, or other items made with foam?

I'll have more questions about adding in cooling equipment later. Just for now... How do I care for the suit?

You should wash it on cold, so a soap meant for cold like woolite is ideal, but any detergent will work. I'd also suggest turning it inside out before washing it, it keeps the fur from getting matted.

For feet I generally wash them in my tub.  Fill with lukewarm water and soap, and just knead and work the soap in with my hands.  I prefer to wash the bodysuit that way too though, I think it's better safe than sorry and I'd hate to have the washer somehow damage it, however unlikely that is.
