My first fursuit head ever

Hello everypony! So yeah, I have decided to make a fursuit head of Rainbow Dash from MLP. What have I gotten myself into, I wonder at times.. I have never done something like this before. Last time I even sewed was in school when I was very little, like 15 years ago. Will this end well!? We have to wait and see.

So I am making the head out of foam. The first thing I noticed, was that here in Sweden, foam isn't that easy to get a hand on, like it seems to be in the US. But I have gotten some, and have started on the head! Have worked on it approximately 3 hours so far, spread over the last 4 days, have been working alot. And my glu to my gluegun have run out now to, so have to buy some more. I was very sceptical at first when I started, but so far I think that it's going well! I will update here from time to time, and tips and help would be very appreciated And I dread the day it's time for the eys and fur..

Seems very nice you're working on your own fursuit head. You seem to take the steps well, and I wish you good luck

I suggest you make the eye-holes a LOT bigger  you will need to install the eye whites and iris as well, which fit in easier when eye-holes are fit to cut. Do you have a pattern for your eyes? If not, get some paper and draw the shape you would like. Use the plastic bowl eye tutorial to make the eyes. You will have to keep the exact same template to ensure a snuggly fit.

Yeah, I was going to do the eye-holes bigger later when I had made the eyes, but I made them bigger now. I have also glued on some more foam around the whole head now. Have been busy at work ALOT this month, so I haven't had so much time working on it. I am going to do the ears now, but I am having some problems with them.

Have been looking a little for some fur that I can use, and that I will be happy with, but I haven't had any luck, at least not here in Sweden. But yesterday I found what I think will be the perfect fur to use!

Bought 2 yards, cuz I am counting on alot of mistakes.. haha. And it will take a while before I get my order. since it's shipping all the way from US to me here in Sweden. But I can wait

glad you found the fabric you were looking for  I've recenty found ot that fleece doesn't work so I've been waiting to be able to go to fine fabrics to get the materials I need 

I hope your fur comes soon, applying it is extremely fun!

also do you know how to round the foam? take a pair of scissors to the edges of the foam and manipulate it  you'll get a result like this -

it looks better when it comes to furring

I got my fur yesterday! Took only 4 days from the US to me here in Sweden! That was extremly fast! So very nice!

What are some of the problems you're facing? Maybe someone can help give you advice?
Have you looked into any videos for similar problems?
