Question about thread.
« on: July 10, 2015, 02:28:29 AM »
I'm making my fursuit ever. I have never sewn with faux fur before. I was wondering if there should be a certain type of thread I should using while sewing with faux fur? Or will any type of thread do?  Thanks!  :?

Any will do, but when I like sowing things up, I like using thin fishing wire because of its strength and durability. It can be a nightmare to knot though so it's up to you.

When looking at the stitches in one my fursuit heads it'd seem like it's been sewn twice with thread that looks slightly thicker/stronger than normal thread.

No idea what kind of thread it is tho since I'm not much of a crafter myself..

Over here in Germany, Sternzwirn is really popular with fursuit builders. As far as I know you can only sew it manually and not put it into a machine though.

Maybe you have something similar at your place?
