Why do therians exist?
« on: October 07, 2016, 12:01:26 PM »
I would like to know what you lot think why therians exist. Reincarnation, misplaced souls, the mind's complexity, predisposition, or even something else entirely? I'm very curious to see what others have to say about this. Of course people who aren't therians themself may offer ideas as well!

I imagine it's the same reason any other religions do, if you're talking about the spirit animal stuff.

I was talking about therianthropy in general. Though it is a spirituality for many (but not all!) therians, I haven't seen one who saw it as a religion.

Sorry if it was misunderstood, I usually lump spirituality and religion into the same thing when talking. Spirituality is religious, is it not? (0r by that logic, religion is spiritual?)

They have some similarities and connections, but aren't entirely the same. Like reincarnation is connected to several religions, but I've seen a few atheist therians who believed that's why they had an animal inside.

Spirituality is a part of religion, but it's not the same vice versa. Religion is a creation of man in order to bring a group together under a set of guidelines and lore. Spirituality is simply the connection between the soul and the divine, not needing to be shaped by others.

To get back to the thread's titular topic...

...I dunno why anything exists, let alone therians. That's something people have never found a concrete answer for. XD

That's exactly why I made this thread. There is not one good answer you can point out, but I was just curious about people's ideas why they might exist.

Personally, I think it has spiritual and psychological reasons. My spirit and brain are both obviously human, but somehow they have some animalistic elements hardwired into them. If I try to see it from just a spiritual reason then I find myself unable to explain why the feeling of being partly animal isn't constant or why it developed during puberty. When I try to explain it with just psychological reasons I'm unable to explain why the animal side fights back when I try to get rid of it. It seems that my brain is connected to my spirit, and my animal is fused into my human self.
I don't know how it works exactly, but all I can say is that God made therians this way. I wonder what reason they had.

maybe we (therians) are the last link between humans and the animal world, remnants of the old earth worshipers. Maybe we are tasked with taking our dual personality/spirit and going out and making a difference. I try to bring understanding of the wolf and the wild to my friends, and some of them understand.

Because of what I am I have also met some of my very best friends, my pack... and they have helped me grow and learn, and helped Naake ni become a real and needed part of me.

Animal worship is a large aspect of my religion and my background. It may have originating from general animistic or nature-worshipping cultures, or just that humans often try to understand things by making them related to our humanity.

Perhaps we understand certain animals very well because we have often used them to explain ideas or characteristics of the world around us. In religion and also our everyday lives.

For instance, the Bible draws many parallels to people and animals. The Devil is often compared to the wolf and vice versa, which led to a negative perception of wolves and other large canines that's been the social norm until the last few decades or so. Earth diver myths often portray animals with very distinct personalities, as I have noticed in many aboriginal peoples' myths, spanning across many continents.

I believe that people are drawn to certain animals because of how we can see ourselves in them. How aspects of that animal may appear in our personal traits and abilities. Someone who rubs fast might like cheetahs, and someone who us more laid-back might like animals such as pandas or marine life. Although that's not what animal spirits in most aboriginal cultures represent, it certainly is a very appealing and romantic notion as a whole.

Tl;dr, Cultural and social aspects factor in how we see animals, and how we see them in us.

Also, I'm not "therian" but the concept interests me.

(Sorry in advance for spamming buzzwords)

Soo, If I'm not mistaking... *Googles therians* I'm likely not mistaking. Then Therians are people who believe their psychologies are / are strongly resillient of, that of an animals, And you're asking why they exist?

Why do people, A.K.A, "Bald monkies", often share soo many psychological traits with animals?

This question is a little more complicated than many people seem to think, because for you to carry an/ traits of, an animal soul or spirit there will have to be information passing on from one living creature to another, and for that information to arrive at it's recipient it has to be percievable.

The possibilities of wich are:

-To make this transfer of information possible, Either or one of your ancestors has had physical contact with said animal in a way that's undoubtedly gonna get me banned from this forum by describing it. I strongly doubt that any of you will be wiling to accept that explaination...

-The information is transferred in a way wich is non-percievable in our universe.

Wich is just such an extremely far stretch involving physics in extra-dimensional signal propogation, non-controlled selective-calling and a bunch of quantum mechanics that I know absolutely nothing about.

It's just such a far stretch that it's likely not even worth looking into with our current day understanding of physics.

-The transfer happened in a timeframe before the human race had any effective ways of detecting signals off the visible spectrum, and stopped before humans gained the technology.

To wich I ask the simple but loaded question: "Why the absolute [Redacted]!?"

-Or the simplest and most direct explanaition from the bunch: The Human race has grown to the size and diffusity similair to that of our ecological biome.

And thus, due to it's size and the wide variety in ways that a human can make a living in it, we have all treaded in diffirent paths of evolution, picking up survival tactics similair to that of diffirent animals, that after skipping a very long and complicated explanaition has resulted in us having specialised in certain ways of surviving, Varieties in psychology and behiour, diffirent moral standards and values, and even diffirent processen in "finding a mate".

It's just the simpelest and most likely explanaition to why humans share soo much with certain animals.

And as much as it sucks, and as boring as it is, The simpelest explanaition is usually true...

Just, please understand that I'm not excluding any possibilies or explanation and have undoubtedly missed a few. I'm just tinkering about this as well.

[EDIT]: Oh, boy, I'm rather late to the party, aren't I?

I feel like I'm newly human-- like this is my first lifetime as a human. But that I was recently canine.

Goofy, ridiculous-- call it what you will. But there's my therian connection: a dim "remembrance" of my former form.

There's nothing ridiculous about that. Therians, otherkin, etc have their own set of unique characteristics, this is just something that makes you unique.
