Comics
« on: March 21, 2012, 02:10:17 AM »
Just wondering if anyone here reads comics and could list some of their favorites. Mostly because I finally have the cash to keep up with popular series and build a collection now and I need some recommendations.

Right now I'm reading Fables and I just started on The Walking Dead. I just bought the first volume Hellblazer as well and I'm waiting for the second Kick-Ass volume to come out. I prefer to buy the bigger volumes because the issues leave me with too much anticipation. I'd rather read  bunch at once.

Some old favorites of mine are Watchmen, JTHM, and I'm known to pick up an issues of some Marvel superheroes every now and then.

I read manga too, but I haven't found one that I've been completely satisfied with in a while. After my three favorite series (FMA, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle) ended, I kind of lost taste for reading anything else.

Just kind of anxious to see if there are any fellow lovers of graphic novels. Web comic discussion is welcome as well. I used to keep up with Pandect, but lost track after the long hiatus a few years ago. That was honestly the only one I've ever followed. I have Lackadaisy saved on my favorites and I mean to start it soon.

Working at my Local comic book store, I love reading comics.

Right now the new 52 Animal Man and Batman are probably my two favourite comics along with Sweet Tooth by Jeff Lemire (totally recommend it to anyone)

Besides from DC I love the new DareDevil, Punisher and The Amazing Spider-Man. And they're crossover was fantastic, I always love seeing DD and Spidey as a team. :) The Avengers Vs X-Men is pretty fun too! Though I see the fights as a liiiittle unfair/unbalanced.
Spoiler for Hidden:
(Seriously, Iron Man just shouldn't win against Magneto)

Update:
Hit-Girl #1 and 2 have been really good.

Vertigo and image have both been coming out with really good titles lately. Saucer County, Planetoid, Grim Leaper, No Place Like Home, Saga, Peter Panzerfaust and Punk Rock Jesus.

Speaking of Punk Rock Jesus. Go read it if you haven't. THAT IS AN ORDER!

I was keeping up with the TPB's for the Avengers since the relaunch after Avengers: Dissassembled, but the team split so many ways after Siege that I can't keep up anymore. I was also doing the same with the Iron Man TPB's as well, but lately money has been tight, and my local comic book shops - I like to buy from bricks-and-mortar stores to keep them in business - hasn't had any in stock, either.

Other than that, I've also been collecting and reading IDW's Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye series. Mostly because it was a good jumping-on point, and I also love the art, as well as the amazing characterization and story-writing. There are genuinely heart-wrenching moments in there for some characters, and every single one of the characters has quirks, layers and personality out the yin-yang.

Which is brilliant, considering they're all robots.
