Life, Death, Just a Game
« on: March 03, 2010, 09:55:00 PM »
here is the plot:

The musty, sickening stench of death fills the air, the dusty floor permanently stained with the blood of Centuries of fighting. The darkness is suffocating - then suddenly, there is a strong blast of white light, and the first thing you hear is that defeaning chanting and cheering from the crowd. This sound defines the very essence of The Arena. That, and the sound of metal cutting flesh....

It was a dangerous game. As your eyes ajust to the bright light, you see people, flocking in their millions, watching you from the safety of the seating area. The Arena, as it was called, was a game in which contestants tried to cheat death, in order to win amounts of money that could never be counted in a lifetime.

Nobody has ever gotten out alive. Within the labyrinth of corridors, chambers and rooms, are thousands of dark creatures, traps and deceptions, things hell-bent on destroying you. Plus, the deeper you went - you were meant to get to the bottom level and retrieve a valuable object (though you would have to work out what the object you were meant to collect was, using knowledge you pick up from the Arena, and also the clue you are given at the start - and if you picked the wrong object, you would die instantly by some horrid means.) the more evil the game became.

Each contestant starts at a diffrent gate, (meaning some contestants may never meet, others might find each other quickly, others may meet up later on. There may even be some contestants from previous games, wandering the labyrinth in endless search for an exit, that simply no longer exists for them.) aiming to discover what object they need, get to the bottom floor, retrive it, then return to their gate, get out and collect their prize -however, above all, what was the real aim of the game? That, was to survive.

..but what the contestants and crowd don't know, is that there's a dark secret hidden behind the arena - Is it really a game? or is it, that those valuable objects may actually be more valuable then the seem.... and somebody, somewhere, wants them for themselves - wants them enough to send thousands of people to their deaths, in search of a group of people who might, just, survive...

Kora paced the small cell she was in, occasionally glancing up at the large gate before her – the Mountain Gate was tall, and grey, plain and stone. It was dull, but that suited Kora fine – practicality was the most important thing in her book. Maybe that was why they had chosen this gate for her. It sort of suited her personality.

Kora herself was a bit of a slow individual – at least, when it came to people. As such, she could never really tell a person’s true intent, and had somehow got mixed in with the wrong crowd. As it was, her so called friends had convinced her that completing the Arena would be a safe and easy task, and that they could really do with the money – which they could. Kora didn’t even ask why the prize was so much.

Kora herself was a tall and slim individual, with long, flowing white hair that fell to her midback. It had a strange pinkish sheen to it, especially when caught in the light. Her eyes were a bright pink, and the pupils were very reptilian looking, although she blinked in the same way as a normal human. Her skin was white – snow white, unnaturally so for a human. In fact, on the edges of her face and neck, if someone were to look carefully enough, they could see tiny scales hiding the skin. These scales traced down her spine and sides, as well as some parts of her arms, hands, legs, and feet. Her feet were also larger than the average human female, the nails more claw-like – though she kept them short, usually, as it was more comfortable. Her hands also had claws, and her fingers were longer, slimmer and more bony then usual. In fact, Kora herself was only partly human – although she’d never say what her true heritage was. Her strange ears gave some clue to her lineage –fan like in shape, they were pure white, with a thin membrane of pink stretching across in small sections.

The woman sported chainmail and some sort of plaited leggings, as well as armguards of a similar material, all of which a whitish colour. Her clothes were simple, not that much of them could be seen – a peasant’s tunic and some thick black gloves. Around her wiast was a belt that sat loosely on her hips, attached to which were a collection of various potions. The weapon – or rather, weapons - she had picked out from what the Arena staff had offered her were two dual rapiers, each very simple in design. Another belt carries a limited selection – about five – small throwing daggers.

Kora paused in her pacing and lent against the wall, mauling over her predicament. She hadn’t heard much about this Arena before, although she did know it was very popular, and involved some sort of competition and had plenty of challenges... Still, whatever the arena involved, there was no going back now. There was a low rumbling sound as the mountain gate swung open, and she was blasted by the roar of an excited audience and blinded by a bright white light.

Lorazys sighed as she waited in her cell for the games to begin. She had been in blood tournaments before, and she prided herself in being a merciless killer. For the last 10 years, she reveled in the cheering of the crowd and the sound of her opponents' bones crushing and their flesh tearing. The bright light illuminated her sight and the next thing she heard was the roar of the crowds. Lorazys held up her hands and smiled brightly as her mind became engulfed in the excitement and her thoughts of glory to come out of these games. To be a winner again, that was her prospect of a lifetime. To always be the champion, the strongest. Lorazys's pitch-black fur shown in the midst of the bright light., her blood-red eyes conttrasting her face. She drew her large buster class blade from its strap and held it up high as her sign of victory.

Kora hesitated for a moment, before stepping outside of the gate. After a moment, the lights dimmed ever so slightly, allowing the contestants to see a little better. She looked up at the audience in the seats above – the competitors were standing in a sort of circular stadium, surrounded on all sides by high walls, above them the seats where the audience were. In the centre of the arena was some sort of large portal, swirling with magic.

“WELCOME TO THE ARENA!” bellowed the commentator from somewhere above, his voice amplified.  “ALLOW US TO GREET YOU PROPERLY.” There was an excited roar from the audience at these words, and low black gates – unlike the contestant’s large gates- opened. Out of which, a variety of beasts came forth – starving wolves, lions, tigers, bears, even a bull.

Kora’s eyes narrowed as she drew her weapons. She didn’t like this at all. “At this rate, we’re all going to be kille
d.” She murmured to herself, unaware that every word she spoke was amplified for the audience’s enjoyment.  More excited cries followed – after all, no-one had ever completed the arena before.

As Lorazys bathed in the cheers, she was already met with someone who wanted to get rid of her right off the bat. The horse towered over her with size and his axe, but she merely side-stepped out of his way. He swung again and she ducked, not even really paying him mind. This big boy is all looks. I've had better warm-ups in hot-springs. The mad horse kept swinging at her with fury, but she just brushed him off, dodging without much effort. Getting bored, she finally slid under him and cut off his right leg. He screamed in pain as he fell to the ground, clutching the stump that remained. Lorazys stood over him now, her prowess as a warrior brimming in her cold, glowing, red eyes. The crowd cheered at the sight of First Blood and chanted, "Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!" Lorazys held up her sword again with her sign of victory to make the crowd cheer more before she flipped it and plunged it through the horse's neck, decapitating him fully. The crowd went wild and she smiled to herself before flicking the blood off in one swing and walking down the steps.
