Doom Metal?

Any fans of Doom Metal here on the forum? I prefer Gothic Doom metal such as Paradise Lost, Moonspell and My Dying Bride but also Stoner Doom such as Black Sabbath (yup, they count =3 ) As for funeral doom...one listen to Nortt and the horrific depresiveness takes a lot to listen to so not too keen

i'm not really into the whole genre thing, but i always associated doom metal with bands like Sunn 0))), Boris and Earth. i've always generally considered that kinda thing to pretty much be the antithesis of bands like black sabbath. lol

Well thats where sub-genres come in I don't like being too picky and placing bands carefully and all but sometimes it helps

nah nor do i... i don't understand most of the sub genres of stuff. i do like Sunn0))) quite a bit. they do some really interesting stuff, but i've never gotten into the others i mentioned. Could be something to do tonight.

i did hear actualy... a mate of mine went to go and see Behemoth live (awesome metal band for anyone who doesn't know) and apparently their encore consisted of  something very similar to what bands like Sunn0))) and Boris do. apparently it had a very negative effect because the audience all of a sudden didn't really know what to do. ... i can imagine that. my mate even said it was a bit stupid, and he loves bands like Boris and Sunn0))).

while we're on the subject... anyone like bands like Behemoth? any of those proper heavy bands? i'm not massive on my metal, but Behemoth and Arch Enemy are a couple of my firm favs... Gojira too but they're not really the same thing. Gojira are closer to, if anything, Brois and Sunn0))).

When I look at this thread I instantly think of the Doom game, and if that theme song counts as metal, I definitely love it
