I was hanging out with a good friend awhile ago at a party and decided to tell him I was a furry. Apparently he, being the stereotypical almost anti-fur, thinks that furry is another word for yiff, and that furries have their way with animals (I am getting bored of this reason for people hating furries... I can deal with a lot of things, but ignorance is just something I can't fix). I used myself as an example of that the furry fandom and yiff are completely different things, and that bestiality has nothing to do with it, but his response is that I'm not a furry then... -_-

Does anybody know any way I could convince my friend that the furry fandom isn't what so many anti-furs think?

How about you at least send him a proper informational link and make sure you also mention that sources like encyclopediadramatica are not to be trusted.

Punch him till he comes to his senses.
But for real, if you've already told him that a fur is someone who likes anthro animals, then steer him towards wikipedia/wikifur.

Idk but i feel for you my family was cracking jokes about me today EVEN THOUGH ALL THE STUFF THEY DO IS ALOT WORSE THEN JUST BEING A FURRY so if you cant get em to not be stereotypical just ignore um and Think about all the stuff you have on them dont say it cuz that will make it worse but just think and have a lil laugh

Just give him some information or have him meet a couple of furs online or something, he will soon learn that the ED description of a fur is bull and if he still chooses to hang on to his image of furs in general then that's his loss.

i draw furries. i was lucky enough for my family not knowing anything about wat a furry actually is and they thought it was just a really good cartoon cat. which was kind of degratting on my dignity but im used to it. my friend at school is always thinking about me like the often stereotyped furry who "makes luv to animals" kinda thing and refuses to stop calling me a "furfag" when a chance is given. but i don't let it get to me. u shouldn't let those jokes get to u either if u are they are winning. now the awkard thing is goiing to be when i get a fursuit :S
