my little pony mod advice
« on: April 11, 2010, 06:37:24 PM »
Hello everyone, just a question for the craft people.

I like to customise toys. I'm not great at creating models from scratch, so I like to buy ones and then alter them with paint and minor alterations.

At the moment I'm experimenting with making furry toys and I like working with my little ponies (they look so cute and they are a good material to work with)

I've been making custom models for friends and I wondered if anyone has some advice for making anatomically correct my little pony alterations?

I've tried set hard clay but it seems too brittle and prone to breaking off. maybe there is a shop where people buy this kind of thing?

I've made a few good basic attempts, but the next step are more realistic (if you know what I mean) toys.

I like those japanese model dolls but they are very expensive, and not animals (maybe athropomorphic if you are good at it).

Looking for good serious advice.

Thanks!

Aikarin.com is a go-to source on serious pony modding. The woman is an artist, and it shows. Here is a tutorial she wrote on sculpting and add extra bits to your ponies: http://www.aikarin.com/mlp/customs/customsculptingfaq.html

I am a huge pony fan and have restored my share of would-be bait ponies. I own about 70 figurines and 8 plushies. Drop me a line if you ever want to talk MLP!
