Its never happened to me because I dont own one, but its happened to one of my buddies about 3 or 4 times. We cant figure out how to fix it at all.

once my friend was playing my xbox 360 and it had a red ring. we sent it to microsoft and they fixed it . they also gave me an xbox live card

I did get something called a E 74, which is a hardware failure. Microsoft took it back and returned it in a week. No problems since.

I got red ringed the 1st time I turned my xbox on but the power cord wasn't in all the way, no problems sense.
