Customized Plushies

I'm thinking about starting an online business making specially-customized plushies for other furries. Like they give me a picture or a description of their fursona or characters, and I alter my pattern according to their fursona's build and put any kind of head/ears/tail they want, and add any wings/clothing etc. they want. Then use fabric paint to make it look as much like them as possible. I'm not sure how many other people out there do it or how much it's in demand, but I was wondering... does anyone know about how much people would pay for something like this?

I found one website where it was $100 minimum for chibi plushies of your own design, so maybe that will help. Do you have any sample plushies that you've designed?

I'm planning on starting the first one, which will be an experimental one of myself, tomorrow. My mom has a pattern for teddy bears that I'm going to copy. I made one of those awhile back but it's just that... a teddy bear. It would be pretty easy to alter though.

$100? Wow  I didn't know they went that high.

Rawr and it takes about 4-6 weeks according to the website to make it x.x, I can't wait to see the one you make!

It depends largely on the kind of material you use for them, the size, and the quality of the plushie.

Hmm... I've been working on a couple of heads today. Altered the bear pattern into a cat and a wolf, and the heads are looking pretty good. When they're done they'll be about 10" tall sitting.

I'm just experimenting with plain white fabric atm but if I were to start taking requests I'd use something thicker and softer. Or fuzzy if that's what they wanted. I dunno yet.

Heres a suggestion. Faux fur can get expensive, so why not try fleece. Cheaper. and comes in a wide verity of colors. Though seams show more, but it will bring cost down.

Fleece... a good idea. Cheap is good.

Honestly, you should price it according to how much work you put into it and how much the materials cost. Essentially, you need to cover materials first, and then how much you consider your time worth.
