Are there any real sailors here that race on some sort of level? We can talk about just about any subject from gear(boats, sails, blocks, lines, etc.) to major international raceing. also state the type/class of boat(s) you sail

Personally sailing sounds scary to me, but that's only because I'm not a good swimmer and I don't like deep water

. Come to think of it though, I think the only person I ever knew who did any sort of boat racing was my now deceased grandfather from my dad's side of the family, I think he was fairly successful.

well sailboat racing can be fairly dangerous cus the boat i race on the boom is about 6' off the deck at the decks lowest point and I'm 6'2"ish needles to say i relly don't feel like being in a accidental jibe situation when the breeze is strong it'll hurt a lot, not to push you away from the sport but if you think about it most sports are dangerous. Also do you have any idea of what your grandfather did as far as races are concerned??

He had some small boats, like I mean only one or two people could stand or sit in it, they were meant for high speed for freshwater like lakes and rivers.
