Some forums on the internet don't have a iPhone sized layout; first, I'd propose making a iPhone compatible layout to the moderators, and second if they don't make one, you can simply use the iPhone browser's zoom feature (pinch) to get it to a suitable size.

I dunno bout iphone/ipods, but I find the mobile version to work all fine on my HTC Desire Android phone.. tho, I tend to open several tabs for several topics with new unread posts.. and since the default HTC browser supports only 4 tabs at max, it can be a slight annoyance...but thats nuffin that can be with better support in the forum, however, a smaller, more optimized version for touch devices with lower resolutions could make it more fun to browse the forum :P
