I used to be modest, which was a pain because people would praise me for being modest, as well as praising me for a bunch of other stuff. So then when people asked me about myself I would say what people say about me, except as a kid I wouldn't say "people say I'm modest." Instead I would just say "I am modest." Which when added to the huge list of compliments people said about me, would sound fantastically arrogant.
Nowadays though, I am quite arrogant and I enjoy it because modesty is one step away from selling yourself short. I mean sure I get lectures about being arrogant, but then I got lectures selling myself short, so heck, I'd rather be arrogant.
