As a female, I would like to politely disagree with your statement about women in general not having to find themselves or having an easier time with anything. Having to find out who you are is what makes being a teenager so full of stress. Nearly everyone goes through it at some point or another.

There are a lot of female furs out there; more than people tend to think. I've seen a whole bunch of artists on FA who are female. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.

Also, the furry fandom itself might not be the cause of having more males than females, but rather the nature of it. It's mainly a subculture born from the internet, and in general there tends to be more guys just using computers on an everyday basis than girls. I've taken enough computer classes to know that there's very often only 1 girl for every 5 guys that are actually interested in being involved in computers beyond the level of knowledge required to check e-mail or Facebook. That ratio is slowly changing over time, but the the world of computers itself is male dominated.

As a female, I would like to politely disagree with your statement about women in general not having to find themselves or having an easier time with anything. Having to find out who you are is what makes being a teenager so full of stress. Nearly everyone goes through it at some point or another.

Of course, I might be wrong in what I'm saying. Simply stating that in my observation it seems easier for females to discuss personal matters (such as sexuality) with each other than it is for males. Of course, I cannot know anything for sure, but I have personally witnessed girls discussing sexuality with each other with curiosity, but if anything even remotely close to it is brought up within a group of males, it's either joked away, ignored as if desperately trying to avoid the subject or given ye old disgusted stare. Not to mention that the only openly gay male I know is constantly given a hard time because of it, but my bisexual female friend is really treated like everyone else.

So really, what I'm feeling is that females are generally more tolerant to "abnormal" things than males, especially stuff that is not normally associated with your assigned sex.

But, like I said, it may be a special case where I come from, or me not seeing things clearly.

that could be true, i know a fur non furs who are hetrosexual and they tend to make jokes about not beeing str8, and stuff like that.  as with the furs i know that are hetrosexual they dont make those jokes. not sure how it is with females. i know alot of furs who are open minded and dont care about who you find atractive.

I used to think that this fandom would be female dominate because of the making of the fursuits or art....

i can see where he is coming from, for i know in atleast my family and around here it seems like females care more for animals than males do. and for the fact the fandom revolves greatly around animals i could see people thinking it would be a very female dominant or atleast a very close ratio for both sexes  :P

why does it seem as if no one wants to be with you until they want something?

lol are you questioning the fact that she is a furry, just as you are a furry(assuming because your on the site)? or are you questioning the fact that she is a female furry?

I agree with Zeph.

I have noticed that female furries are more into the artistic part of the fandom. I'm going by observation here, but it seems that the majority of furry artists are female, while the males are more into other areas of the fandom, such as roleplaying and furry discussion in general.

Honestly, there isn't just one reason why something is. There are many other factors that come into play on why males outnumber females in furry population. It's difficult to point out the major cause. :P
