Random hard cycles?

Alright, so recently I've noticed my laptop has been hard cycling occasionally without warning. Prior it bluescreened a fair bit, but stopped for a while. The laptop is only about.. 8 months old? I've also noticed that it often does this when running graphics intensive programs but not always. I have checked CPU temperatures and they are at around a steady 85 77C. The computer doesn't reboot, just shuts off completely, and takes slightly longer to boot up again. As far as I know there are no viruses but I'm doing a scan. Even though it doesn't seem like a virus.

I'm horrible with things that could be hardware related, especially with laptops. Is there anything that could be the cause?

Specs are:
Processor: AMD A6-3400M @ 4x 1.4GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: AMD CrossFire 6720G2 (Radeon HD 6520 HD dedicated w/ 967mb + Radeon 6600M/6700M Series)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64

It's -really- pissing me off. I've already spent time screaming and banging my head against the wall from some of the things it's interrupted.

The very basic thing I recommend checking is the RAM. Faulty RAM is very common and tends to cause a bunch of bluescreening.

Look up memtest86 and run it for a few hours.

It doesn't bluescreen any more, just does a hard shutdown.

Random shutdowns are usually safety precautions due to possible overheating.. though it seems like it should be fine.. another possibility is fan failure.
None of the temps seem to suggest that however..
Could be the battery?

I suggest taking it back to the store and see what they can do.

Alright, well I'll open it up and see if anything seems iffy, if I can't manage to fix it I'll take it to the store.

Sometimes even if the CPU temp is low, there could be something overheating on the computer causing it to shut down regardless. You may have something that's either burnt out, or is in the process.
If it's something you can't locate from looking at it simply, you definitely should take it back to the store, and be sure they know not to mess with the Hard Drive. Some stores tend to assume you have important stuff backed up elsewhere ><

Question do you have an ASUS MoBo because ASUS has a very well know problem similar to this in a lot of there MoBo's over the years, When your running something even somewhat graphically challenging say Oblivion, the computer will just completely shut off without warning anywhere from 30minutes-3 hours after starting the program.
