digitigrade stilts??? cheap, natural-looking custom tails???
« on: November 10, 2013, 09:32:18 AM »
okay so i was roving the internet a few minutes ago and discovered these sons of bitches.
first, science has gone too far. i want a slice of it.
second, they're $1,000. i don't even have $1.

so. i have decided to make my own using funds from christmas (assuming i get any welp)
problem: i can't find any schematics for such things. anyone know where i can find some?

to be honest, i don't really have a fursuit to use these on. but i want to wear them around my school. and around home. and...probably for the forseeable 3,000 years.

okay so with the stilt thing out of the way, i'm looking for someone who can possibly make a custom airbrushed tail for under the $150 mark, preferably under $100. this is probably a stretch price-wise, since partials alone seem to go for $500. i'm looking at this for the future (hopefully summer 2014, maybe sooner!) and i'm not likely to purchase one any time soon :C

This might help:
http://transform.to/~mwbard/stuff/thehorsetailor/indexhoofstilts.htm
I just looked under: open source digitigrade legs.

The most expensive part compared to the whole suit (be it partial or full) is the head. Hence why partials tend to be around that price or higher. Tails can also be easy to make, depending of course the fabric, if you want some sort of 'skeleton' in it or not (to make it sway in a certain way). And stuff to... well... stuff the tail with x3
But all in all these materials can be bought for a rather cheap price and the tail (or at least a basic decent one) shouldn't be too expensive.

Hope this helped :)

Those stilts look pretty tricky to make from scratch, It would take a machine shop and welding capabilities to make a set. As for the tail I do have better news for you, actually a link. How to Make a Yarn Tail.  Iv learned from things that are not furry related that there are two ways to get what you want in life. You either spend allot of money to buy it, or you spend allot of time making it yourself.
I can go all night, i'm nocturnal.
