Here’s EDN III, a little planet way out in the galaxy. It sits just on the cusp of being warm enough to survive on. A long while back, an Earth-based Megacorporation known as NEVEC, sent people to colonize this planet. That was eighty some odd years back. The colonies have splintered off into their own groups. The Snow Pirates who survive in the Great White. NEVEC, who operate around EDN III, as protectors of the populace, slaying gigantic Akrid, creatures who inhabit the planet. With the onset of the Green Eye incident, which brought a vital resource to the surface. EDN III is naturally an ice-cube, but after the incident, Thermal Energy (T-ENG for short) rose near the surface, warming patches of the Great White to give way to the Great Wilderness, and the Great Desert. These each have their own groups, The Snow Pirates roam the Great White, just trying to stay alive. The Jungle Pirates romp through the jungle, wiping whole NEVEC organizations out. Vagabundos and Waysiders share the Great Desert, stealing and salvaging NEVEC property to fuel their own villages. Well…the Waysiders anyway. Vagabundos are bands of raiders, who take pleasure in stealing NEVEC technology, and selling it to the other groups. Mega-cities have sprung up all around EDN III, much to the consternation of NEVEC. A group of militia, referring to themselves as Carpetbaggers, revolt against the ‘oppressors’, namely NEVEC, and fight for peace. All groups have met at one point or another, and most seek to live in peace. Rising population, and the erratic patterns of the now-overstimulated Akrid, have taken a toll on all groups. Stress and lack of resources have made some groups a little unstable, creating both Jungle Raiders and Desert Raiders, both of which have created their own languages, and are very aggressive. They aren’t afraid to kill to survive. NEVEC, however, have their own plans for EDN III. Unknown to all groups, NEVEC plans to re-create the Green Eye Incident, and strip EDN III of all Thermal Energy, and abandon the planet.
Okay, sorry for getting wordy, but…eh. I wrote this at 3:00 something in the morning. If it takes off, great! If not…eh.
Alright, there are some stipulations, namely groups. There’s:
NEVEC – The militaristic organization planning to drain EDN III of all Thermal Energy.
Ex-NEVEC – Those disavowed by NEVEC, who are looking to send a message.
Waysiders – A militant group living in the Great Desert.
Vagabundos – Happy-go-lucky raiders who live to give NEVEC a headache. Also in the Great Desert.
Snow Pirates – A hardy group trying to stick it out in the Great White. They've recently been exploring the Great Jungles.
There ARE Mercenary groups, but are usually hated, and sent on suicide missions. Basically they’re used as cannon-fodder for things that want done, but aren't really necessary.
(I'm not sure what kind of community there is for this, but if you never try, you never learn, right?)
