Poetry Slam

So this thread is all about Slam Poetry, you are allowed to write slam poetry on any topic. no topic is too controversial, but keep it server friendly. So for those of you that don't know what slam poetry is a way to express your thoughts and opinions on certain matters/ subjects.

Here is a quick example of slam poetry, they usually last a few minutes. When you write your poem try to create a rhythm also if its read at a certain speed then state the speeds.

Controversy:


Are you honestly going to sit there and cry,
Because I made a joke about something that caused some people to die?
Do you not understand this is how people cope?
That it brings hope.
Might even save someone from resorting to the rope,
and abandoning their family.
Yet you still condemn me.
Without this I'd see the world as bleak.
To me life would have no peak,
Only valleys.


For you see, without humour, I would only see death and despair.
I mean, honestly, it's freaking everywhere!
Around every corner, down every hallway,
Like you can never get away.
So if you perceive my little joke to be in bad taste,
Resist the urge to get in my face.
Learn to take life less seriously,
cuz that's actually deadly.




(I have no idea if this is any good and I know poetry doesn't have to rhyme but I really wanted to)

Thanks, I wasn't really sure if it would be any good. It wasn't meant to be longer I made it all up on the spot and felt I had said all I could. I'll check out that link right after I hit post.

Social Media

OH LOOK at all this food I'm having
Some nice thai, vegan diets and gluten free,
People in other countries are starving,
But that's ok cause they aren't me
OH NO what's this? some tragedy?
Plane crash, earthquake, kony?
I'll stop posting about it when it's no longer trendy
But for now I really care, just trust me!
I'll make a post and say "like to support"
And everyone will like me cause of my thought
But I'm not willing to do stuff or give money,
My post is enough, it doesn't require activity!

Hey guys, look at all the sadness in my life

Cause it's "complicated", my relationship is volatile
Clearly it's the most important thing in life, that's just my style!
While people are dying, being tortured and are poor

It's an inspiration quote that really means something!
And all those that don't like it, they understand nothing!

That was very powerful and says a lot about the people of todays society, you should find a poetry slam competition in your city/state and use it to compete.Its a very beautiful poem and I can almost feel the attitude just from reading it.
